Does anyone have any input, experience or any other insight regarding the University of Colorado at Boulder? They have a BFA MT and I'm wondering about the quality of the program as we're trying to have a range on my D's "list".

Sorry I can’t help with the program, but I am an alum of CU. Boulder is a great city with a lot going on in the arts and with Denver just 30 minutes away, there are even more opporturnities. I loved it there, but it is a HUGE school. They have a well know summer Shakespeare festival that is very good. I think some of the cast is from the school, but a lot are from outside. When we were there last summer they were doing rennovations on the theater.

I haven’t heard a ton of positive feedback on it. We looked in to it for my D but it came off the list. Just word of mouth feedback from coaches and the like. Sorry not really any help here!

How about the University of Northern Colorado? It is a BA in MT but seems to be a worthwhile program. They had a presence at the NY Unifieds this year. They also have good in/out-of-state scholarship options and it is financially reasonable. Take a look and see what you think.

U/C Boulder grad Elizabeth Welch just went on as Christine in Phantom/Opera on B’Way this week. She is the u/s. She was, however, not an MT major but a VP major, with a masters in vp also at U/C. (Which reminds me to look up old threads about VP vs MT.)

I am from Colorado, and University of Colorado has an MT program, but not a good one. This is strictly word of mouth and my personal experience, but University of Northern Colorado has a far superior program, and I wouldn’t recommend looking at University of Colorado for MT at all. They do have an excellent music school and VP program though. MT however is not well known there for good reasons, and a close friend is extremely unhappy there and transferring. Look in to UNC. It is well known in Colorado and surrounding states, and really is a gem.
