I am trying to get a better idea about Millbrook. I have read all the marketing materials... but really want to know more about the general reputation of the school, its strengths/weaknesses, and general student body makeup. For example, is it primarily students from NY/NJ? I read one statistic that said only 90% go on to college, but have no idea if that is accurate.

Was hoping for more info from my fellow CC'ers!

Thanks....

PS we do know about the zoo... it is one reason my DD put it into the running! LOL

Excellent school. They have spent a ton of money on the facilities over the last ten years, the headmaster (Drew Casertano) is excellent, community service is big, the Zoo is unique, the classes are challenging (although slightly less so than you might find at the most rigorous boarding schools), the scores and college results of the student body are very good, but, again, not quite top 10%. The student body seems nice, although a tad “pink and green” in my view, but that’s my own problem.

If I had a child who would thrive in a competitive, but not over the top competitive school, and who liked a close community, liked community service and liked some of the school’s unique offerings/concentrations, it would definitely be on a short list for consideration.

Millbrook is a great choice. Drew Casertano is one of those universally recognized ‘great headmasters’. If you get a chance to meet him, do. He could articulate what makes Millbrook come alive better than I ever could. The kids are nice, caring, and have a lot of heart - community service is big at the school. A visit is your best bet at any school, of course - go see for yourself and see how it jibes with what you are looking for.

Thank you. I emailed for info.
