I noticed that on the CMU website there are two types of interdisciplinary programs - bachelor of humanities and arts and bachelor of science and arts. but BSA only seems to apply for some type of arts concentration and some type of science concentration, which includes things like math, physics, etc, but not computer science.

what other options would there be to combine these two interests of mine?

i suppose you can major in CS and minor in fine arts?

CS is in its own school (School of Computer Science) and thus is not part of BSA, which is between Mellon College of Science and the College of Fine Arts. Depending on what sort of arts you're interested in, you might be interested in the second major in Human-Computer Interaction (http://www.hcii.cmu.edu/) which includes psychology, design, computer science, and statistics. Also, there are computer music courses taught by Roger Dannenberg (http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~rbd/).

Building Virtual Worlds is a very popular course that is quite time consuming and involves collaboration between people in different majors to, well, build virtual worlds (http://www.etc.cmu.edu/projects/bvw.html).

As you said, you can major in CS and minor in fine arts (or the other way around), but make sure you contact the fine arts department you are interested in before you make assumptions. It can be hard to get into art classes, and the music department tells different people different things about requirements for a minor. It may vary by instrument.

What are your arts interests?
