<p>I'm a High School Junior, whose always been good with programming and art and is trying to decide between the two. I've been hoping that maybe I could major in one and minor in the other, or possibly do a dual major (pipedream?). But it seems like most schools that are good at art aren't good for computer science. And vice versa. </p>

<p>So just wondering if any of you know of any schools that are good at both, preferably in the Northeast. And whether a Double Major, Major/Minor is even possible in fields this different?</p>

<p>Carnegie Mellon if that’s northeast enough for you (Pittsburgh) - one of the top CS programs (arguably the top) in the country with the School of Computer Science, and one of the top art programs in the country with the School of Fine Arts. </p>

<p>I agree with the CMU program being the best, but tons of schools offer a digital media degree which is the best way to combine both interests.</p>

<p>Here is USC’s program (although it’s all the way in California):</p>

<p>They also offer a digital animation degree through their fine arts school.</p>

<p>@enmar884: yeah I used to live in Pittsburgh so i’d be fine with the location, but kind of thought that CMU was way to much to pay for a UG degree. But that BCSA program is just the sort of thing i was looking for…hm…</p>

<p>Are there any other places that offer a combined degree like this? I know there are a lot of digital media degrees, but something with a more rigorous CompSci aspect? I’ve looked into RITs dual degree option, but it looks like it would at least take five years without co-ops. :/</p>

<p>@ricegal: RPI definitely has some good programs, but the location doesn’t really appeal to me, Troy is kind of a scary place these days…</p>

<p>This Cornell program is going to be less art and mostly CS, but you can use your artistic sensibilities:</p>

<p>Also Cornell allows you to get a dual-degree in 5 years with a BS in CS and a BFA.</p>

<p>Brown has an excellent CS program and offers the open curriculum, which allows you to choose any combination of classes without worrying about distribution requirements (of course you still need to fill each major’s requirements – or to seek permission to create a customized major). It’s thus relatively easy to double-major in two very different fields. Brown also has a 5-year CS masters degree program.</p>

<p>These all look like great options, but im afraid that most of these schools are mainly need-based aid (Brown, Cornell, and CMU). And just based on the EFC calculator my parents won’t be able to help with even half of whats expected. :(</p>

<p>So are there any other programs that offer opportunities to do both that are cheaper or i would be able to get some merit-aid? Possibly transfer in…a dual-associates is very-doable at my CC with my APs…</p>

<p>Haven’t taken the SAT yet, but GPA is 4.0 (uw) and expect 2000-2200 SAT score.</p>

<p>^ University of Alabama. Major in Comp. Sci and minor in Digital Media. Great merit $. Comp. Sci. is part of the Engineering School so quite rigorous.</p>
