Colleges want to see you spend your summers doing something productive.
That can mean:
Getting a job
Babysitting your siblings
Going to an academic camp
Taking a course
Volunteering
It doesn’t have to be an “internship”. Get any kind of job so you can get some experience in the working world.
This way if you mess up it has low consequences.
You could spend the time as an aquatic safety specialist or a mobile customer service provider.
@TomSrOfBoston aquatic safety specialist = lifeguard, which is what I did for most of my HS and college summer “internships”.
But got me a little stumped with the “mobile customer service provider.” Back in the day in NYC that could have been selling Good Humor Ice Cream on the beach, or pizza delivery. What were you thinking of?

I’m a freshman currently doing SYEP and Earth Climate Institute at NYCAAM (Program w/ nasa about global warming, not very selective though)
