Any Kind Of Edge Or Benifit To...

Would it be benificial to get a rec from someone that attended the college that you are sending the rec to? This of course being that the person knows you very well and they were a highly respected and good student while attending there.

thanks.

I would think teachers are better to get recs from, unless that student was like president to some club or organization or something.

The most important thing here is that they know you well and can provide the college with an extremely good picture of who you are and what you will represent at that school. Of course, it may add a little if the person's been at the school since he/she will know what the school environment is like and may write your recommendation so that you'll be more of a "match" with that school.

Many schools will allow at least once extra recommendation. In that case, they do actually want someone who will speak of a different side of you - so another teacher who is just going to say you are a great student is a waste. You didnt say how you know this alum, but if s/he knows you will, I would say it is a plus.

well what i am kind of wondering is would the person just have to state in the rec that they attended the school or is there a spot to say so?

They have to work it into the rec.

There's no overt space where it says "list school here" or w/e, but you can tell them in the rec.

I would recommend you go to www.commonapp.org and go look at the application yourself.

I think they would say something like "as an alumus of X, and knowing GoDawgs from whatever, I would say that he would be a great candiate."

Not difficult at all.
