Any Nigerian's in the house

y the silence guys?
I am done with school-and the freedom is getting boring. what are u guys doing this summer?

Waiting for the freshman year to start...

HI, I couldn't post because of the large amount of forms I have to fill. Switch have you scheduled an interview?I have all my documents but the link in the nigerian embassy website to schedule an interview is not working.

Sefago, I have not yet scheduled my appointment but I think that you can use google to find the link to the US embassy in your country. If you're in Nigeria (as your location reflects), the site is abuja.usembassy.gov. It usually works well.

Good luck man!

Switch how do you pay the SEVIS fee. I tried to pay mine through western union but I could'nt find any western union agent in Nigeria.

there are alot of Nigerians in the house !!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey pals, sorry i've been off CC for ages!

sefago, forget about Western Union and find someone with a credit card ASAP....if the person is in NIgeria, just give them the US and let them do it right in front of you and print out the receipt...or if in the US, email the receipt...that's the safest and fastest way to do it. if you know somebody else going to the states, ask them how they paid their SEVIS fee, and see if you could use their contact person too...

Jrock is right!!! The credit card option is definately the best. When i got my student visa 2 years ago there was no SEVIS fee involved...i think i read somewhere that it began september 2004. well i wish you all the best.

welcome stuck-on-1700. if you dont mind i would like to know the meaning of your name

welcome, too stuck-on-1700. it probably has to do with SATs, Afrik...did I guess right, stuck?

Sefago, Jrock and Afrikaan are right: Using a credit card will be the most hassel-free option. Just find someone with a credit card as Jrock said. At least that way, you won't have to fear the possiblity of a delay in getting your receipt before the day of your interview. The way I understand it, you'll have to get your receipt by ordainary mail if you use Western Union and international mail is very unreliable (I'm speaking from experience).

Anyway, if you have no choice but to use Western Union, I know that they have a branch on the University of Lagos campus. Maybe you should check it out.

Hi guys, I have lots of things to sort out so I could'nt post on CC. hAS ANY ONE FILLED THE ds-156 FORM AND MADE A VISA APPOINTMENT. I made several mistakes on the form. I did'nt indicate I was goinmg to the US to study and i DID not fill my application number when I was making my visa appointment. Is it really going to affect my interview?

Hi, sefago, I got mine on wednesday last week...here in Zim, it's not mandatory to apply online - they give you the applications at the bank upon payment...

i guess you also have to book an appt online...although I am not sure what you mean by application number. best thing to do is call the Embassy and ask if you could reapply. such mistakes don't look too good:)

Sefago, I also had a similar problem (mistake on form) and my advisor told me to fill another form and submit. Luckily for me, I had not paid the SEVIS fee yet. Have you already paid your fee? If you haven't, you could just fill another form, submit it and print it out. If you have.....eh, I don't have any suggestions (except forfeiting your $100 fee....I'm just talking crazy)

From all implications, the process of gtting the visa is as hard if not harder than the college admission itself. Well i wish you all the best-try going early for you visa appointment. From what i hear, they have a daily quota. I just got my I-20 yesterday.YAY. :)

Hey guys. how is it going? how are the visas coming? well i wish you all the best :)

Thanks, Afrik! I'm due next month and I've started quaking well ahead of time :)

hi all, i'm the new member of this site. I believe "Afrikaan" shud know me.

Anyways, I have been reading through the thread and it seems like you all have plans to enter this year. Is there anyone that is starting this application process this year and also may be considering applying to Ivy league schools so we can work this thing out together. Because right now, I need a lot of help in choosing schools. I am taking a gap year by the way.

Hola!

hi!
Its me again. Hope you all dont mind but i really need an answer. Is there anyone starting their application process this year? Also is there any NIgerian considering applying to Ivy-league Schools? I think we would really learn from each other if we do it together.

It wud be well appreciated if i get a reply.. Thanks

maduka this is Sefago ( You are mixing me up with afrikaan). I have a lot to do now but when I have time i would explain to you everything you need to know about Ivy league school applications and financial aid. How did your brother's visa application go?

Hi, I am really in a bad mood. I was refused a US visa. The interviewer did not bother to check my father's assets. She only checked his Bank statement. I am scheduling an interview tomorrow. What do you think I should do? Should I ask my school for help? or I should petition the conular general?. Also does anybody know somebody who got a visa after been refused the first time?
