Any non-math geniuses who scored 750+?

I'm not a math superstar (my highest math score is a 620, although I have an 800CR and a 780W), but I really need to get a 750+ on the math section. Are there people out there who aren't math geniuses who scored extremely well on this portion of the test, and if so, what did you do to get that score?

My second question is, what test prep book should I be using? I want an EXTENSIVE one that gives you not only the solutions but also an explanation of how you reach that solution. I have a really hard time with the blue book because it JUST gives you the answer. Any suggestions?

Yes. I got a 750.

Well, I know I've plugged this book at least a dozen times, but I'll do it again: Up Your Score: The Underground Guide to the SAT has a really good math section. They not only give good advice on guessing strategies, but also a lot of helpful tips for doing some multiplication quickly in your head (faster than the calculator) and other strategies. Other than that, I don't know many other books, but I did do the College Board's online practice test, and it gives you a good explanation of each answer.

yeah, i did the college board's online practice test too. infact, i just did it today. i got a 630 in CR, 690 in writing and a 670 in math. i guess it's too late to work towards that 700 in CR. calicollegegirl, do u know if the UG SAT guide has any math strategies you mentioned online?

I don't think it does. The UG website isn't very in-depth. You could check, though. The url is upyourscore.com.

Yea, I'm not a math genius..I got a 760. Just get the collegeboard SAT practice book and take the 8 tests(24 sections of math) and you'll be prepared. Make sure you time yourself to plan out how you want to use your time on the real test.
