I was so certain during the school year that I'll do it during summer but now in summer, I'm not doing it.Actually, I can't really figure out what to write and how to write it.

Anyways, have any of you here started your essays? How did you decide on your topic?

I'm applying to Rutgers, NJIT, Cornell, Columbia and Princeton..and maybe more like BU or something. But, those 5 I'm definitley applying to.

I am still not sure what to write but usually don't ppl write about one of their ECs? I just wanted to write about myself and how I'm different from everyone in my family and stuff which maybe I can connect to one of my ECs but I don't know how that's going to work out.

Well, is there any EC that you are really envolved with that isn't that common and will look good (i.e. for me it is the FFA, because with it we do leadership conferences, national conventions, we must do community service, have work experience etc. etc.) is there anything that demanded you to really work hard in it?

Yea. I did research for which I worked hard but still I don't think I want to write about that though. I only did it last year. I could write about music (I have sung ever since I was little) but I don't think there is anything so special to write about that...idk.

Dang. Overachieve much? (Not that it's a bad thing, especially on CC.)

Does anyone know the website where I can access the JHU essay topic? I've searched for a good half hour on their site and can't find just a common app.

I've looked at the essay topics for the applications that have been released, but being in a rush to start or even finish the applications now is pretty silly. I would just think about the essay topics occasionally. I am not saying to do your applications at the last minute, but give me a break - there are months to go. Plus, many schools have not even released their applications yet.

Wow!!!!
That's all I can say. I mean granted it's CC, but really, just try to enjoy the summer. I know that I didn't start my essay until November, and I really didn't fix it up until about early December [not saying that's the best course of action], but seriously don't bother much w/ the essays now. I mean you can look at them so you'll have some idea as to what you want to write, but to sit down and get a strong essay now I think is just not worth it. Live life and love it.

Next week I'm going make the effort and take a look at the applications. Then I'll be away for a couple weeks, but I'm defnitely writing my essays in August. I don't need that stress during the school year

I'm planning on using the school's essay. Its much easier to write when you have a starting point

Totally, I don't particularly like any of the commonapp essays, and writing about ANYTHING I want seems just a bit too vague. I particularly like UChicago's essays however, I might get started on those in August :)

I'm working during the day (8 am-4 pm) and volunteering in the evening (5 pm-8 pm) through next week, so I definitely don't have time to start yet... I leave for Sweden with my family next weekend, and there isn't really anything to do there (small town on the coast), so I figure I'll just write my essays then.

I have actually finished all my essays and completed the common app., just need to make some revisions and perfect everything! My guidance counselor made us do it in the spring of our junior year!
