Any one got senioritus?

Hey,
I got senioritus...that's b/c I got into Caltech and MIT ED and now hanging waiting to hear from Stanford.

My parents think I'm a slug and threaten to send me to my financial safety rather than pay the big bucks at MIT or Caltech b/c they swear my slug-ness will spill over to my freshman year. They even suggested I get professional help-- said I have depression. I'm just bored and prefer to play video games and relax until I start college...what is wrong with that???

I'm pulling Bs now..and I even failed PE second quarter...HA HA HA...but thankfully it averages in and I will not need to repeat / make up the quarter...Guess I'll put on my shorts for now on...get a C then...

Seriously--- any advice...should it matter if I get good grades? Should I try to get rid of my affliction!
I had straight As first quarter when ED mattered...straight Bs (except Calc-- A+) in second quarter ...and hope to pull off Bs for the year so I don't risk being rescinded.....no Cs yet...but it is TEMPTING to do nothing. None of these schools are going to give me AP credit anyways-- so that's pointless too...I enjoy my AP classes...the other classes required to graduate are painfull.... I still have my ECs...but once home...I have no interest is stupid HS homework and assignments.

So for those of you at Stanford....did you have senioritus and are now fine as a freshman?

How did you get your parents to back off...

Your in Caltech AND MIT?!?! Congrats! I have no reason to be slacking I’m in no where!

I don’t think you will be a slacker the rest of your college career just because you’ve got senioritis… it’s hard to find motivation when this last semester really doesn’t count for much and your already into college! This happened to me 8th grade (lol), I had already been accepted to my hs of choice and my grades didn’t matter anymore, but I still did well in hs.

As far as parents, I usually avoiding talking about school altogether with them, or if necessary, lie. haha. My parents are worry warts though.

Is Stanford your top choice? I’m guessing no…

You don’t have depression! haha, my parents thought I was too, but it really happens to a lot of seniors b/c we have no motivation. As long as you keep As and Bs (even mostly Bs) I doubt MIT/Caltech will rescind your acceptance.

Urhhghghh, have been accepted to Stanford and now am too lazy to even type this po…

I was accepted to University of Chicago EA but I can’t imagine letting my grades slip . . . Granted, it is definitely harder to stay focused, but the extra effort is worth it to me.

I guess that’s why your evertheoptimist, huh?

hahaha toast, that was pretty funny. Oh and I hate you (for being accepted already).

Toast-- ROFL!

Everytheoptimist…are you ■■■■■■■■ me…why are you on a stanford thread then…

@ JJ
I am completely undecided about choices…none seem the right “fit”
All great educational opportunities…
MIT- many nice people…but lots felt “cold”
Caltech-- well too few women
Stanford-- too big
I am going to do the admitted-student weekends in April once I know if I got into Stanford…and maybe on a long shot I’ll consider the financial safety if the merit package is really spectacular…

I’ve had senioritis pretty much since sophomore year. I really don’t think it’ll effect you’re freshman year. You’ve worked hard to get to this point so why not cruse until graduation? And I get what you mean. Everything just seems so fruitless now. Just don’t let your grades slip too much from last year.

Man, i hate high school and have horrible senioritis. As I type, I should be reading my AP Euro chapter, studying for a Calc quiz, reading a novel for Lit, or doing the stupid Stats assignment. I just can’t wait to graduate. Only thing keeping me here is choir. I understand where you’re coming from. I just want to hear from the last colleges, then I can make a decision!!! Good luck and congrats. MIT and Caltech is awesome!

I try to have senioritis, but… it only works in theory.

I plan to get straight B’s second semester lol. 80s in every class. If one class’ grade gets too high I’m make sure to slack more.

I wish I could have senioritis.

I have senioritis, but then get scared right before a test and then cram. like today…

Here is my daily schedule:

Go to school, sleep in every single class, go home, play Modern Warfare 2 until 2 am next day, sleep for 5 hours, and go back to school.

Also, I go to every play, sport game, concert, and other school stuff which i missed for 3 and half years while studying , practicing my instrument, and volunteering my ass off
