Yeah, from what I’ve heard about previous years, it’s about 25 people in Round 2.
Yeah I haven’t received an email either…
I just got it. I didn’t get in.
Has anybody else heard anything?
I just got the email, I didn’t get in
Just got the email, also didn’t get it! Let’s all cry and eat cake together ok?
Okay, that sounds good.
I heard something before about how we’ll be considered for other merit scholarships if we make it this far. Does anyone else know the status of that?
Didn’t think they handled it well waiting until late evening to send out emails. Didn’t get to the next round so disappointed, but I have other great options, so I feel fortunate.
@williamtell Agreed. I also thought the wording of the email was slightly off putting. Perhaps I’m just bitter though hahah.
Not a finalist, either. I readily admit that my feelings may be impacted by the rejection, however, I do agree that sending out the emails so late in the evening was unnecessary assuming there was not some sort of computer issue. I checked my email all day anxiously waiting. They could have easily been sent out by 5. Also, the tone of the email was smug. If you are working for a large University such as American, I would hope you could craft a better rejection email than the one we received. The video submission topic was very personal in nature, as it should be, and to not even acknowledge the work that went into it or the intimate details which were revealed is insensitive and quite honestly, rude. The way it was handled jaded me a bit towards the University. I am sure it doesn’t help that I received a Likely Letter this week from one of my top schools. Oh well - good luck to everyone in their future endeavors!

Couldn’t have said it better myself!
My daughter applied for the FDDS too. After some research on our part it seems her video wasn’t even watched. was yours watched?
@goodmom15 How did you check? My daughters video was set to private on Youtube.
My video was set to private as well, but I believe you can view the number of times it is viewed. There is a counter under the video. I sent the link to my parents and to my friend who helped me film it. So I do not know if my numbers include American. Regardless, it would not surprise me at all if videos were not watched. I think Larry Thomas at American knew exactly who he wanted by Round 2.
@KaikiD @citybus there is a counter and stats that you can access. I know her video wasn’t even opened or watched. Stay tuned… the plot will thicken. Its a disgrace on AU!
I hope this means you are escalating this at AU! I can’t prove that my video was not viewed since my family watched it or I would join you! Keep us updated, please!
@KaikiD you can check the stats and see the sates times location viewed,
I have already taken it up with AU and Mr. Thomas. I’m looking for support. The whole thing is a sham in my opinion.
@goodmom15 i don’t think they viewed mine either. But it’s hard to know, as I sent it to my family. Keep us updated on what Mr. Thomas says.
Did you send an email or call AU? My friend who filmed the presentation uploaded the video under his account. I will need to have him check the stats. My parents said they will contact AU if it appears that my video is not viewed.
