if I bought the textbooks in Amazon or something like that, can I sale those books during Colgate's buyback and get 50% of retail price? or do I need to buy those textbooks in Colgate store to participate in the buyback? I willn't need those books anyway. Any information is highly appreciated!

you won’t necessarily get 50% (or anywhere near that) back from colgate’s buyback but you can definitely sell books you bought from other sources.

You can sell whatever books you have to the buyback company, which is not affiliated with Colgate. And you may get shocked at the prices they offer, in a negative way. Be prepared to be asked 20 dollars for a book worth 150 dollars brand new. I would rather sell books on amazon.

thank you so much! I found some information here: [How are buyback prices determined?](http://www.colgatebookstore.com/textbooks/2007/12/how_are_buyback_prices_determi.html) do you have any idea about this? If I bought books from other sources, can I get that price?

Thanks!

any idea is appreciated

Nope. Nobody’s really been able to get good price back for their books through buy-back programs. They’re complete rip-offs. They just merely take books off your hands and give you probably a few dollars in cash.

Better just to shop used whenever you can. Colgate’s bookstore is really great for used books (and they pack all the books up for you!) but do some comparison shopping with Amaon, B&N, and Borders before definitely buying anything from Colgate.

I’ve always found books cheaper on amazon than at the bookstore, but I can sell them back to the bookstore for more money than I get from amazon…

You can sell your books no matter where they were bought from. I have never heard of anyone being able to sell his/her book for 50% of the retail price though. More like 15-20% most of the time.

half.com you will get 50-75% back for a new, major textbook. Colgate you will get maybe 3-5%.
