Any Opinions of Georgia State?

I'm looking at it as a cheap instate option

bump
…

It’s a commuter school, and a step below UGA and Tech. Decent option for instate, but don’t expect to wow anyone with the name.

Well, some smart people from my school are going there and none of them intend on being commuters.

A lot of people from my school go there, I’d say it’s about average. Most of them seem to like it! I don’t think it’s as commuter-ish as you think, because I think the ones I know that commute do so since we’re not very far away [I live in the Atlanta ~Metro area]. You probably know this, but just in case, it’s literally right in the middle of downtown. Plenty to do in the city!

Side note: My friend that plans to go to law school is going here because from what she’s researched, their law school is really good. So if that’s your route, interesting little tidbit

Yup their law school is one of the best deals in the country.

Ga State increasingly become competitive due to Hope scholarship. It is going to have I-AA football next year. Also, they also build new dorm downtown. So thing definitely looks up.

Its business school is probably the best undergraduate department in the school.

That doesn’t change the fact that it’s a majority commuter school. They are becoming more of a traditional campus with the new dorms being built however.

yeah, I’m wondering about GSU as well. I’d like to transfer to Tech after two years of college, and I’m wondering if I should go to State or UGA as a starter.
If I choose GSU, I’d be in their Honors Program, which doesn’t sound too bad…?

mevans414, if you want to transfer to Ga Tech, all you need to go to a school

1) Earn 30 credits.
2) Finish 2 Calculus, 2 English and 2 Science
3) Finish 2.7 on both math/science and overall GPA if you are instate

You don’t need to stay two years in either GSU or UGA. If you take some courses at local community college (Georgia Perimeter College) in the summer semester, you can transfer to Tech in the summer of following year.

Here is what you can do, complete 15 credits in the summer semester in GPC, then 15 credits in GSU/UGA in the fall and apply for admission summer of 2011. In that case, GSU honor is probably better choice.

Also, I thought you were deferred at first round. You still got good chance in regular admission.
