title speaks for itself. I’m wondering if BA in Computer Science is a popular major for admissions/on campus.
Idk if this helps or not, but it might help a little. Every single Northwestern alumni I know or have ever met ( its only about 3 ) have all been CS majors. So it might be decently popular.
…But maybe not super popular for ED because a lot of the CS majors probably apply to like Stanford, MIT, or CMU for ED/EA. NU is an excellent CS school but its not AMAZING or like THE BEST in the country.
I’m personally applying as a philosophy major ( maybe a double major in econ ).
Sorry I couldn’t have been more help!
Their EECS department (which runs both the BS and BA programs in computer science, even though BA is an art and science degree) is ranked the lowest among all engineering departments. This is not to say that it can’t provide quality education or the graduates won’t be in high demand (they likely will be for the reason CS is in high demand). But, as the above poster said, Northwestern isn’t really one of the schools known for computer science.
Computer Science is currently one of many (too many!!!) fields that I am interested in studying, so while I didn’t mark down CS-BA on the application (I marked “undecided,” because I am) you can count me amongst the ED applicants with an interest in CS.
If CS is one of many fields you’re interested in, then NU makes sense; if you know right now that you want to be a CS major/pursue a career in software engineering, NU is not worth it.
