A friend’s kid was recently accepted, having applied regular decision. I’m thrilled for them but puzzled by the timing, and wondering if others have had the same experience.
I have seen a few people get accepted RD early by getting notification of the Mosaic program- but perhaps Vanderbilt rolls out acceptances in batches?
Thanks for the point about Mosaic; this student isn’t a minority. My daughter applied to Vanderbilt two years ago and I don’t remember them putting out acceptances in batches then, and certainly not in February.
My son is not a minority, but was accepted last year through Mosaic. My guess is it had something to do with his essay. I think Vanderbilt notifies all RD applicants( except Mosaic) on the same day.
Based on past patterns when should the RD decisions come out?
@Houston1021, usually a little before April 1, I think. I just went back though the correspondence trail to when my D applied two years ago, and that year they sent out an email on Saturday, March 21, announcing that they would be sending out decisions the next day. A Sunday, kind of odd.
My kid applied rd. About ten days ago was notified of being awarded a chancellor scholarship. So was accepted earlier than the scheduled rd date due to scholarship. Also due to that particular scholarship was invited to mosaic. Non urm kid.
So in my kid’s case it all seemed related to the scholarship award.
@northwesty, thanks, and congrats to your son!
Confirming what @hs2015mom wrote, 2 years ago (2015) RD decisions came out Sunday, March 22.
