Any previous transfer students!?

I’ve tried calling the admissions office and they were not very helpful at all, I was hoping someone could help me. I messed up the first year of college horribly due to family issues, but this next year I owned up to my mistakes and buckled down on school. I’m doing much better and actually passing my classes now, the first person I talked to on the phone said I had a very good chance at getting in once I finished this school year and sent in my final grades because I had I think 40 credits that would transfer. In short, I wanted to try out for dance team and auditions are in April and they check a week before to make sure you were accepted as a student; I asked the admissions office if I submitted my application now and just prayed I received a decision within a month instead of the full 12 weeks if I could send in my spring grades in 2 weeks when they came in so they could at least start the review process. She really didn’t know what to say and rushed me off the phone. Would I be better submitting the application now and sending in rest of my grades later or wait the 2 weeks for classes to be done and then submit?

Hello Ann12121995,

I signed in just to reply to your thread. I applied for transfer at MSU. Specifically for Fall 2016. Unfortunately, MSU is terrible with getting decisions back to their transfer students. I applied 13 weeks ago with a 3.8 GPA and have not heard back. They told me they might have decisions for those who applied early in mid April. Those who apply later will hear mid June, early July.

I have a few friends who applied on the first day that transfer admissions opened, and they are approximately 15 weeks without a decision. I originally hoped that MSU would prioritize decisions to high GPA applicants, but that is not the case.

Give them a call to confirm the wait time to hear from admissions. I am, so far, unhappy with how MSU has treated us transfers, and so are many other transfers. Shoot me a PM if you have any more questions, I’ll be happy to offer any help I can.

@JustinS123 I should probably just send the application in the way it is then and send updated grades as I get them then if it is going to be that long. Thank you!

Hi! I’m currently in the same boat as you. I’m patiently waiting on an acceptance letter because I also have the hopes of auditioning for the dance team in April. I have a college GPA of 3.4, and sent in my high school transcripts that were a 3.2.

I applied for Fall 2016 as a transfer to the college of engineering on 01/20 and got accepted 02/29.
High school GPA: 3.8
College GPA: 3.9 with about 70 credits
