Any Questions about UCSD?

Does anyone know what the Chemical Engineering program is like at UCSD?

Haha that was awesome ^^

LOL that was pretty funny.

Another question, though- is it true that ERC is mostly female?

I don’t appreciate you linking that ■■■■■■■■ video. -_- If you wanna bash ucsd, this is the wrong place to do it, hater. So get a life and don’t try to start close-minded rumors about a perfectly fine school.

^hey buddy, i go to UCSD and I’m not trying to bash it. Why don’t you develop a sense of humor?

@samedifference, yes ERC is mostly female and the stereotype (which is somewhat true) is that many of the few guys that are in ERC are gay

Can anyone tell me some things about Muir? Like a common major or profession…what the students are like…I guess some (not necessarily true) stereotypes :)

the asian part of that video was hilarious

That was pretty much the most honest video about UCSD I’ve seen!

@Honest Joseph, sorry about that. I’ve encountered many ucsd haters out there and I incorrectly assumed you were one of them ><.

LOL, HonestJoseph. That was a hilarious video. :)

So back on topic for me, the video shows a lot of related links and I noticed one was an UCSD Drama? It was made for TMTV, which I thought was cool (go Marshall!). Can anyone make something for TMTV or is it specifically for film students?

I’m a white kid who grew up in San Diego, but i go to high school in New Jersey. I got accepted to UCSD, the ERC more specifically and I’m definitely considering it, but no one out here can tell me anything about it. I need to know if the International Studies Major out there is worth passing up a lot of good deals on the east coast, or if it’s just a joke

haha i just read the post about the majority of women and gays in ERC. are the girls hot atleast?

@maylix: Anybody in any college can have any major so it’s kinda hard to generalize what major Muir kids have. I guess if you had to, it would be something in the humanities or social sciences major. Muir kids are stereotyped to be more outgoing and social, I guess because they have the easier GE’s, hence, they have more time to socialize and the way their reshall buildings are organized foster more social interactions.

@objection: I believe if you join TMTV, then you can start making videos/films. BTW, the guy who directed the UCSD Drama series is Kane Diep and he’s a visarts/film major.

@torres1892: The international studies major is ranked 9th/10th in the nation at UCSD. And because, you got into ERC, it’s the perfect college for you since ERC is all about international experience/relations. You have a foreign language requirement for ERC’s GE’s anyways as well as for the IS major, so it’s like hitting two birds with one stone. There are also like 8 tracks you can take (anthropology, econ, history, etc) so you have so much to choose from! You are highly encouraged to study abroad and if you are interested, you can even live in the International house (2nd year and up) where you live with international students for the year. And may as well as check out the surfing because UCSD is the ranked #1 for surfing!

^ “Stereotyped” to have the best looking girls… but my opinion is that all college have their share of good looking girls.

What’s the big deal about priority registration?

In what order do people who don’t have that privilege register for classes?

@ingridbergman:

Well, you see, priority registration allows you to have the ability to sign up for classes first and you are basically guaranteed a spot in the classes that you want instead of being on the waitlist and being unsure about whether or not you can get into the class – it relieves a lot of stress, believe me. People get priority if they are regents scholars, athletes and specially associated with OASIS transition programs. Then, registration goes to people with the most credits and then on. Usually people with the most credits are seniors, then juniors, the sophomores and then freshmen. But for the first quarter for freshman, their registration times are random and picked out of a lottery.

haha thanks clarkfobes! can you give me some links as to where you got your stats from? i’m craving more info about UCSD

How hard is the entry writing requirement exam?

No link for the girls stereotype lol

@orangeicecream: I guess it depends on the person, but for me it was pretty easy. You just have to read an article and write an essay that answers the prompt. Just take your time because you have like 2-3 hours to write. Some people who are good at writing but don’t take the time to write a decent essay fail because they take like 20 minutes to write it and then just leave which sucks for them because then they have to take a remedial writing class (SDCC) at UCSD which sucks…
