UCSD questions

well after getting my ass handed to me w/ college decisions, it looks like UCSD is where I will be for the next 2 or 4 years. So I have a few questions:
1) How is UCSD's economics program? One source told me it as weak, another said it was very strong, I'm not sure who to believe.
2) Can I dorm with a buddy? One of my good friends is actually in the same building as me (Marshall) so could i request we dorm together?
3) Hows it on the weekends? I heard UCLA was dead on the weekends so i was wondering if SD was like that and if most ppl head up to SD and party and stuff on the weekends.
4) Hows the recruitment out of college? If many UCSD students get recruited after college, I'd consider just staying there 4 years and getting a strong GPA instead of trying to transfer after 2.

Hey Sage, where are you? I believe you can be of some assistance.

hey flong, your in marshall too? what major?

i went in undeclared. i arrogantly thought I'd get into UCLA so i randomly chose my colleges (Marshall and whatever) and decided to go in undeclared since SD doesnt have a business/business econ program. but I will probably go into economics or management as soon as i turn in my SIR and housing thing. it was very humbling though! on a good/bad note alot of my very qualified friends (3.9 uw/2100+) did not get in so ill be going to SD with like 5 or 6 ppl and my good friend is in marshall w/ me so ill prlly dorm with him and maybe some random 3rd person if they dont have doubles

oh dont worry i'm sure sd will be fun!..kind of exciting just talking about college in general

oh yeah hell yeah it'll be hahah. the friends im going with are the outgoing ones so itll be heading up to SD, beach, hookah, gym things like that alot. But yeah, i realized not all is lost and at least i can be one of the better students rather than at the bottom of the bell curve at LA or some other top school -_-x. Anyway, on the bright side I got accepted to an internship at Geffen Records! (ppl like Mary J Blige and stuff record there) so itll be my 2nd main internship to my Microsoft one ..so at least im building a work experience portfolio :)

oh wow!! congrats!!! thats so cool and exciting!!!!! my summers going to be boring..oh well..should hang out with my friends before leaving..it's gonna be sad and exciting....i hope the dorms in marshall are nice...

1) UCSD's graduate Economics program is ranked 10th by USNWR, I believe. I think the undergraduate program is strong, but not top tier (like MIT or Chicago). Economics is one of UCSD's stronger departments (like engineering and cogsci).

2) You can dorm with a friend.

3) It's dead on the weekends. You can still do stuff and have fun with friends, however.

4) I don't know.

oh retarded its dead on the weekends. is it cuz everyone goes home?

i heard everyone just stays in the dorms....=[

ah ill prlly head up to sd hahah ; )

ditto what slorg said

on the weekends, the campus is pretty quiet because lots of people either go home or stay in their dorms, but if you look for parties, you can usually find one. one way to do this is to join a fraternity/sorority and another is to go to sdsu.

ah i c.

oh well...i guess ill just take things as they come..
