Any Questions on Canadian Universities

Hey

Considering people have been nice enough to answer my American questinos I figured I'd offer to ask if anyone has general (I'm not admited but I've been doing 3 years of research and visited a few of the major universities... yes 3 years...)
BTW ironically if you're american you need to submit your SAT scores if anyone wanted to ask that.

I have a question: How does a school like St. Francis Xavier compare to American LACs? Of the Amhersts, Carletons, Williams, Middleburys, etc, could you fit it in somewhere?

How hard is it get into Mcgill and Toronto or UBC for engineering? What kind of SATs and grades do they want? Do they look at extracuriculars or not, also do I need to take the TOEFL if I am in a english speaking country?

Xavier I would says fits somewhere in the middle. In canada it is one of the best LAC
and last year it was ranked #1 by a macleans who publishes the us newsweek equiv of the canadian uni rankings

Toronto is very hard to get into for engineering along with Mcgill and UBC. You would need a high 90% which in american terms i basically all A+s. ECs matter but much less than American ones I believe. Unlike American universities where they look at the cnadidate most of the time Canadians one go.. EC sufficient? Check, Marks sufficient? Check. Enough Space? Okay send letter. TOEFL might be needed but most likely not. I don't need TOEFL to enter US so I doubt Canada would ask vice versa.

SATs are hard to tell since so few americans apply for them to give out stats but I believe they just want to make sure you didn't screw up your SATs and that's why you're seeking refuge in Canada so to speak. I'd say for the most competitive programs you'd be looking at just below ivy league's marks. Considering our universities are much smaller and percentage grad emphasis on the high end of the 90% scale makes 4.0 sounds less good since they don't know what end you're at.
