any RD applicant got Likely letter ?

Got mine from the mailbox just now  Again, I live in New Hampshire, so they should still be coming out in the next few days!

Where are you guys from and when did you send in your applications?

I’m from Massachusetts. I sent in my app like…a week before the deadline. Or less.

Congratulations guys, I’m highly doubting i’ll get one (I live in upstate NY so if I was going to get one I would have gotten it today) but hopefully I have a ghost of a chance at Dartmouth!
It’s a huge achievement to get a likely letter from Dartmouth, so congratulations!!

Im from PA, and I sent in my application about a week before the deadline.

My son got one today in the mail. We live in PA. He applied RD.

Rejected from Yale, Likely letter from Dartmouth

Jesus

AH, congrats guys! I didn’t get one today, and I wouldn’t be expecting one either. But I’m from DC area, maybe letters haven’t gotten here yet? Ha, I can dream, right?

lol ducky i feel exactly the same way… someone from my school got one today so they probably want me even less now lol but i still can dreammm

Yea…congrats guys.
I can still hope that maybe they didn’t reach NJ yet…or that they just haven’t read mine yet…hah.

[TheDartmouth.com | ā€˜Likely letters’ sent to relieve college tensions](http://thedartmouth.com/2005/02/24/news/likely/)

500? Is that true? Dartmouth only has like a 1000 person class right?

^yup. which is why it’s scary not to get one… :(

But…Dartmouth probably admits about 2000…so the majority of admits don’t get one. But I’m still hoping that I get one. It would be such a relief…

For those who got them: what were your stats?
Yea…I know I’m being a pain…

mine are:

1st or 2nd in class of 290ish, private MA high school
2380 combined SATs
800, 750, 750 SAT IIs
5 AP exams taken, score of 5 on each
rigorous schedule
national merit finalist

and a buncha leadership positions in clubs, most of them i’ve done since freshman year. Mock Trial Co-President, Chess Club Vice-President, Chairman of a Soup Kitchen program at my school, Freshman Orientation Program leader…that kinda stuff

I don’t think I really had any ā€œhooksā€ per se, I mean my stats and ECs are strong and my interests are well-rounded and I suppose they liked it.

Holy crap, I knew nothing about these…well, here’s hoping for one!

Private high school, non ranked
2340 SAT
800 800 790 SATIIs
3.9 GPA
Hardest Schedule: Five 5’s on AP exams
Weak in school EC’s (Captain of XC team, newspaper (non-editor), writing tutor, tour guide)
I really dedicated myself to a non-mainstream sport though, so maybe that tipped me in.

Did ur status page change in any form???

I don’t even know how to get to my status page. I never got a username or password in the mail or by e-mail or anything. That’s why I was so surprised to get something like this.

I received it today. I’m totally pysched because I didn’t know about likely letters before.

Understand the real numbers:

–400 were admitted ED, that leaves 650 or so spaces
–yield is typically 50ish%
–the school yields less than 50% of LL letter candidates as many will also get into HYPSM and choose them
–50% yield includes the 400 admitted ED–a 100% yield

So do the math, lots who get in don’t get LL’s.
