I am a student with plans to major in physics. I am crazy about physics. I've read and studied all of the Feynman lectures on physics, and some of Kaufmann during my highschool years, and selftaught Calculus with some modern analysis. Also reading textbooks from the schools i am thiking about applying to apart from the book used the college i attend. I am currently attending City College of San Francisco. I wasnt able to go to a good university because of financial problems at the time, and the fact that i haven't really proven to universities that i love physics, by some kind of achievement during highschool. I guess i considered myself a lonewolf when it comes to extracurricular activities. I have to change if i want top school to notice me. I am in my first year in college. I was wondering if i could get any ideas on what to do. Currently I am fulltime student and volunteering in the school district tutoring k12 students with science courses, but i believe that's not good enough. Any ideas?
So far i have 4.0 GPA and currently taking honor college courses. I was also wondering if taking a class of quantum mechanics in 4 year universities like UCB for a summer would help me increase my chances...
I'm graduating in two years and thinking about applying to CalTech, MIT, and some Ivys...
PS: Anyone knows a good textbook about quantum chromodynamics?
