Any recruited athletes out there?

Hey I was just curious if anybody knows/is a recrutied athlete for Cornell (spacifically rowing) and how they are handling the workload. Also, how high were their GPA/SAT scores in high school? Do they really make large execptions in admissions for athletes? Anything you know would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey, I actually know a former crew member who is the Cornell Club President in my area. He was talking about crew with some other kids and he mentioned that the professors are really accomodating when it comes to atheletics. For example if you have a crew scrimmage then the professors will let you take an exam a bit later to avoid conflicts with your schedule. Otherwise, practices are usually at 4pm everyday, and the practice area is a bit far from North Campus where the freshman live. However, it takes only a little bit of time to get there.

I heard something like 10% of an entering class is recruited athletes. I don't know any rowers, but I know couple runners, they're handling the workload just fine. They told me that recruited athlete applications go in a seperate pile in the admissions office. I think if the coach wants you and if you are in the top 10% of your class, you should in good shape.

varsity beer pong requires a lot of committment but I think it's worth it
