<p>Hi, so I'm a freshmen in high school and I've been trying to prepare for college- the typical stuff, I guess, trying to figure out what I'm interested in, do lots of community service, try out for sports teams, do well academically, etc. And as I kind of went through my mental checklist, I was like- "What didn't I do? Was there anything I really could've tried harder for?"
I did come up with a few things, but what I really wondered was what others forgot to do. I don't have a lot of experience or anything, so I decided to ask you guys- what do you regret about high school? Is there anything you wish you'd done? Would you do it differently, if you had to do it over again?</p>
<p>I don’t really think this would help you, but I wish I had just waited to have surgery until after high school. It messed up everything sophomore year. I didn’t really have a choice though…</p>
<p>This might help you more. I wish I had explored schools outside of Ivies and top schools earlier. I wish I had started taking the SAT earlier. (I didn’t take it until June of Junior year.)</p>
<p>I’m still a junior but if I could do it over, I would join more activities and really develop my interests.</p>
<p>I also wouldn’t mess around and get B’s.</p>

<p>I`m a sophomore and already have a list of regrets…
-Wish Id joined Model UN last year (and this year)
-Wish Id doubled up and taken two maths last year
-Wish Id taken AP Biology/Chemistry this year (Its a two part program where you ultimately take both AP tests)
-Wish I hadnt taken Intro to Media last year, because I found out I couldve take Journalism 2 this year without Intro to Media if I had a teacher recommendation...I couldve taken Spanish 2 AND 3 if I hadnt taken Intro to Media, which would`ve freed up my schedule down the line.</p>
<p>In short…you don`t have to have a plan down to every last detail that goes all the way to senior year, but have a general idea of what classes you want to take, and the pre-requisites that come with it.
And I wish I`d done better in math last year.</p>

<p>My regret in high school was listening to my guidance counselors. They mean well, but they drove me and the rest of my class insane with their “guidance”. They forced us to take classes we didn’t want to take because we knew that with our busy schedules we would barely ever sleep. This really did turn us into the equivalent of walking zombies.</p>
<p>Also, (and this isn’t so much a regret but rather a word of advice to you) don’t do things for the sake of getting into college. Do things because you enjoy them. You won’t have any major regrets if you just do that.</p>
<p>Junior, and I regret not being more involved, not taking my high school classes seriously in middle schools, and not taking high school in general serious freshman and sophomore year.</p>
<p>SOOOO many things I regret about HS. To sum it up I will have to say I wish I worked harder and wasn’t as shy.</p>
<p>Mine is more social. I wish I had been less shy and more talkative because I’m in my junior year and finally being more myself with my friends. I wish i had payed more attention to everything, my Freshman and sophomore is like a fog and I can’t remember anything really I wish I had gotten into UIL my freshman year because I honestly wanted to. Again I’m finally doing it my junior year. And I wish I had taken classes that would have interested me more and worked a little harder instead of doing the minimum mostly.</p>
<p>No regrets. I haven’t focused on school nearly as much as most people on this site, and because of it I probably won’t get into my top two colleges, but you know what? There are a ton of amazing schools out there. Am I a little disappointed I won’t be going to my #1 school? Yeah, but there are other great schools out there too, and I still got to have a great social life in high school</p>
<p>Yeah, im a freshman too. My main regret is not doing football in the fall, too late to join. But I may join next year, but I heard you get picked on a lot if you dont do it your freshman year. Not too big a deal though because wrestling and lacrosse start soon.</p>

<p>I wish I’d Tried a little harder to work/study and do my homework more. I also wish I hadn’t taken IB classes but that’s a personal thing.
Oh and I wish I would have checked out this school more before leaving private school- the kids are nicer and the classes are easier but the education is just not food.</p>
