Are they hard to get?

Yes they are hard to get, they really aren’t worth it. Its fun to have roommates :)

If you are a freshman I recommend (in general) you have a roommate. If you are an upperclassman, yes - singles are available in many dorms. My D2 lives in a single in McCollum. Ragans has single bedrooms and are in fact mini-dorm rooms with a common kitchen and bathrooms for each two bedrooms.

Both are quite nice…there are others as well; at greater expense.

When I attended FSU in the 1970s off-campus housing was preferable to on-campus dorms, mostly due to having A/C, telephones and cable TV. Today, the dorms are better due to parking, facilities, convenience and other reasons. Cellphones obviate the need for land-line phones.

Many/most singles go to upperclassman. If you have a REALLY low priority number you have a chance.
