Any stories of bad drivers?

I just want to get the general idea of drivers out there. I think I'm an okay driver but I'm not really sure....I'd like to compare?

I drove the wrong way down a multi-lane city street once. To be fair, I looked and there weren’t any cars in my lane, obviously if there were cars there I wouldn’t have turned. I found out rather quickly though lol and I turned into an ally. It was prom night too and my date was a little freaked out I think…

My dad’s a horrible driver.

My mom slammed on breaks in the mountains in front of an 18-wheeler that was carrying radio-active waste. not a very bright idea… Luckily no one was hurt and no waste was spilled.

Well, at a T intersection I thought a car was turning. It, in fact, was not. I nearly got hit with my mom and siter in my car (on my side though). I quickly accelerated.

When I first started driving there was a + intersection. I was relying on my mom and she said turn. I turned to the far lane though (she wanted me to turn to the closes). Not looking we nearly got rear-ended by a car… They honked. ><

Other than those two next-to-accidents I have not been a bad driver.

My brother got a ticket for speeding, of course. He also got hit in the side at a + intersection. The whole side was smashed in and the car was totaled.

A long time ago my mom hit a motercycle. The motorcycles rear lights were not working so when the guy was breaking my mom did not notice. BAM. The guy did a 360 flip in the air and landed on the side of the road. =S

Other than that…

I was in a car with a friend, and some other car almost drove into us as we were changing lanes. My friend swerved and everybody was safe.

I’m a good driver, but a horrible parker.

The day after I got my license, I pulled into a parking lot in my family’s Ford Explorer Sport Trac (a fairly big pickup). I turned too late, and hit the guy’s bumper on my right HARD, basically half-ripping-out my own headlight. I somehow managed to pull into the spot anyway, with about half an inch of space on each side, and got out to assess the damage. I then waited for 15 minutes or so, but gave up, and started to pull out of my spot, very carefully and straight back (since I had such little space on either side).

Then I pulled out too fast with my nerves, and hit the guy in the space directly behind me. When I felt the impact, I freaked, hit the gas, and was still in reverse, so basically ground my bumper into his. That guy WAS in his car >.< and he was ****ed. Luckily and by some diety’s divine authority, there was no real damage. I exchanged info and drove to my mom’s workplace and broke the news in complete hysterics.

So there you go, two accidents in about 15 minutes, both with parked cars. I now park as far away from other cars as possible, though I am now proficient at parking. I still freak whenever I go to pull in though.

I believe I’m a good driver. Never caused or gotten into any accidents, or even been remotely close to getting into one.

However, I did get a speeding ticket. 70 in a 50 zone, but the road is straight, there was barely any traffic…but I digress.

Okay this is my mom: runs red lights, makes random U turns, drives 30 on the highway, parks in NO PARKING TOW AREA zones and HANDICAP!, never pays the parking meter, leaves the signal on for ten minutes without changing lanes, doesn’t know how to merge into traffic, gets constantly beeped at by other angry drivers, turns when it specifically said NO TURN ON RED

And yet she’s so against me getting my license and making me wait until I’m 18. WTH?!

Oh yeah she’s an Asian mom so I guess that explains a whole lot.

Once, I went 30 in a neighborhood and almost crashed into a parked car. 5 minutes later, still at 30, I almost drove onto the curb. Pathetic, no?

One time in middle school the principal came over the loud speaker and said a student had been hit by a parked car. It was supposed to be a somber announcement, but everyone laughed.

What bothers me most are people who block intersections, speed up to stop someone from making a turn, and change lanes with using their signals.

And people who don’t belong in the left lane. You’re being passed for a reason, do everyone a favor and switch lanes.

Oh another story it’s kind of stupid but my friend was driving and decided to do her hair so she asked me to hold onto the wheel. Well I held it too close to the right and we almost drove off a bridge :X

I’m a ridiculously bad driver, so I’ve stopped driving and refuse to get my license. And around here, getting your license is a “rite of passage” essentially. I don’t want ANY rites of passage in small town America because I am NOT coming back.

People who don’t leave enough room when merging. Some idiot in a pickup truck nearly swiped the front end of my car because she didn’t look.

Cars/trucks that drive slowly in the fast lane. Really?

People who SEE that you’re trying to merge but then pretend they didn’t see you and don’t let you in

Idiots who speed up and cut you off, which accomplishes nothing when they have to stop at the light

People who don’t signal to turn

People in crappy cars who rev the engine

People who blast their *$&# music and think they’re doing the world a service

My biggest beef is with people who don’t turn when they’re in the right lane at a red light. I actively try to avoid being this person when I drive.

so this one time, i was driving on the wrong side of the road
(because i thought it was a two-lane unidirectional highway when really it was a bidirectional highway, so i was on the left)

except i almost drove into a police car
so he started following me
and i didn’t realize he was trying to pull me over
until my mom called and i asked her about it.
so i didn’t stop until like ten minutes later
and the police gave me three tickets for
(1) speeding (2) driving on the wrong side of the road, and (3) evading the police

lol @ fizix, what a bad day,eh?

my experience is some wanna be rich kid (who really isnt) driving a beater bmw M3 (like 15 years old) like a maniac in the parking lot. Almost crashed into a bunch of other kids while doing donuts right after school (too many kids around)

Oh god, I completely agree.

Also on this back road, which I use to get to school as does 100% of the school, there is no speed limit sign. However, the speed limit is 55. It really annoys me when people go 45-50 on it.

In general, I’ll focus on one thing and forget everything else. For example, I’ll be so focused on turning that I’ll forget to use my turn signal.
Also, one time, I was rolling up the car window and ran into a fence… in a cemetery. Since then, I’ve sworn off driving.

creepy hahaha
