I (Perhaps we all) have to take 6 hours of Social & Behavioral Sciences and Humanities & Art in order to graduate... however I have no passion in Humanities and Art so I have no idea about what class I would like to take.. could anyone here suggest an easy grading class that doesnt require that much brain and is not boring ?

The Gen Ed requirement also includes 3 hours of western culture and 3 hours of non-western. I mention that because, though the culture, social science, and humanities requirement together add up to 18 semester hours, you can actually complete it with only 12. The key is that a number of the courses that you can take qualify for two different requirements, e.g., there are courses that apply to both the social science and culture requirement and thus one 3 hour course counts as 3 hours in social science and 3 hours in culture. Thus, in your search for courses, which should begin by looking at what courses qualify, http://courses.uiuc.edu/cis/gened/urbana/2006/Fall/ and click on the requirement to get a list, you should consider courses that can satisfy two requirements. As to what actual courses to consider, someone else may be able to make suggestions there.

MUS 130 is really easy and pretty interesting if you enjoy music. Although that class is only a humanities, and MUS 133 is a humanities and non-western, but the material is a little harder and less interesting. SOC 100 and Psych 100 are both pretty simple too.

Ya iwotic, there are classes you can take that will satisfy two or more requirements. I'm taking some advanced composition course that also satisfies a science course (doesnt really help me though as I'm a science major...). Just go on their website and click on gen ed requirements. Then click on the requirement you are looking for and a list of courses will come up in a table format showing what each class qualifies for.

Here's my list of Gen Eds
Advanced Comp: Physics/Philosphy 419 - Space, Time, and Matter. My favorite class so far at UIUC.

Comp I: SAT out of Rhet 105

Non-Western: Geography 101 - Good class, focuses on Africa and peaked my interest enough to entice me to intern in Africa

Western: AP US History

Humanities and the Arts: Phil 102 and Phil 206 - 102 is the easiest class ever and 206 forced me to read some philosophers that I am glad to have read

Language: 4 years Latin in high school

Science and QR2: AP Physics

Social and Behavioral: AP Comparative Govt, Geography 101 fills this req as well
