I am a University of Maryland-College Park business student who is looking for a more challenging undergraduate experience. I am not familiar with transfer standards and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me. Based on my academic record, where do you think I could realistically transfer?

It seems like those are primarily intro level courses. So perhaps the issue is not so much the lack of challenge at your school, as it is the non-advanced nature of your coursework thus far. That said, there are a number of more demanding institutions with solid business programs where you may have a shot such as Emory or WashU. Both I and my friend got into both those schools and had similar stats (I had better college stats, he had better HS/SAT stats).

Of course, there are other criteria to consider when choosing where to transfer, so I would suggest first selecting a more exhaustive list of key factors, and then building a short of reasonable transfer list.

What is your college GPA? If it isn't spectacular, it may be hard to make a convincing argument that your school isn't "challenging enough."

Well I was more using this post to get a general idea of the type of school I could apply and realistically be accepted. Right now I know what my ideal schools would be but my chances of being accepted would be small. Those schools are UNC/University of Texas because I do like the big state school feel of Maryland, Georgetown because it is close to UMD so I would be able to maintain friendships I have made here and Boston College.

Question_quest,
I understand the argument you are making, you make a good point that my GPA is not spectacular. However, I have not received a B on anything except a handful of quizzes since my first semester. My first semester, I had a difficult time adjusting to college life for personal for reasons so a lot of the time i was apathetic about grades and it showed. Also it is not the only reason I want to transfer. I mentioned that specific reason because I don't see any reason to transfer to a school that is less academically respected. I want to transfer because A. I haven't been able too make many close friends, and no really close friends who are girls (I am a girl btw) B. I grow up in an urban area so I am feeling a little restless being on campus so much of the time. DC is close but ppl tend not to be interested in leaving campus very often. C. There seems to be a lot of grade inflation here (its curved so that 80% of my accounting class are going to get Bs or higher). Although, I have heard that the business school is going to create a policy that only allows 20% of students to get As in all business courses starting next fall. D. There doesn't seem to be as much school spirit here has I had hoped. F. I love following college sports and our sports currently suck and G. I am paying oos tuition so I feel as though I need to LOVE the school to make the added expense worth while
