Bumping up. The 2 hour premiere of Survivor 42 airs Wednesday. Whoâs watching?
Me!
Usually donât watch the night it airs but Iâd love to have a thread about it!
Any thoughts so far?
Here are my quick thoughts.
I still donât know why contestants willingly disclose their advantages to others. They always seem to get the spotlight after disclosing them. And I had to laugh when Mike, the retired firefighter, lost where he buried his potential idol advantage.
Jackson being evacâd off was a surprise. But not disclosing the fact youâre taking lithium seems important. And the show did have an alternate player available, but they had already left the island.
Right now Iâm really liking Jenny Kim, a creative director, she seems very sharp, and I really thought Johnathan Young was going to be your typical âGym Bro,â but he seems to have some depth there.
And Iâd probably throw myself off a cliff if I had to have too many conversations with Maryanne. An amazingly vibrant personality with no off switch.
I completely agree.
Rooting for Jenny also.
And Tori is being portrayed in a very negative light IMO.
I havenât seen enough of Tori yet, or least what they show you of Tori, to form an opinion one way or another.
She seems very nice, but I did find it a little ironic that the professional therapist was crying after 3 days on the island. But maybe thatâs what youâre referring to, in terms of the ânegative light.â
Whatâs strange is I canât figure out who the bad person is going to be, Drea?
I was thinking the villain was going to be Tori. She said something snarky to Zach about messing up the puzzle behind his back and a few other things.
Around the 1:15:00 mark
I listen to the No Buffs podcast ( 3 sports guys, I love it) and they were talking about how 41 and 42 are so awful about revealing their secrets that they think 43 NO ONE will be telling!
A dark horse could be Daniel - the one who dislocated his shoulder in the first episode - his commentary and actions when he was out with Mike looking for the âlostâ idol was good.
Need to see more of lots of them but I also think Jenny could be strong as well as 2 other guys - the vegan if he eats enough to keep his strength and the other guy who was involved in the first episode with the fake blood on himself.
Very excited that after YEARS I have managed to get my H to watch along with me. I knew heâd love it!
Well thatâs too bad (leaving out any spoilers).
I think the person at tribal council made the wrong decision. Well, at least I wouldnât have done that. It means no one trusts that person now.
I think there were probably a lot of questions after last nightâs tribal council. Obviously some knew about âlose a voteâ and some (at least one) didnât know. Chanelle, Mike, Lydia and Hai are not too happy with Daniel.
Kudos to Hai for digging his feet in the ground and waiting for others to change their mind. He has Lydiaâs loyalty now.
That was wild. An early tribal wild!! Sorry about those results though.
(I do think itâs fair to put spoilers here especially more than 24 hours after the show aired??)
Speaking of wild, how about those water conditions for the challenge? Scary! Also the behemoth of a guy - yikes, he nearly did the entire challenge on his own!
I was thinking the same thing. Can we say spoilers are allowed after it airs on the west coast?
How about those who donât want to know anything before it airs in their time zone just donât open the thread?
Even better!
I knew my Survivor obsession would come in handy someday.

I watched Wednesdayâs episode tonight, since D21 is home. If Iâm not caught up, then I donât bother opening this thread. So, post spoilers all you want.
Jenny was one of my favorites. Oh well.
I hope Daniel doesnât play poker, because his opening salvo that he doesnât want to go to picking rocks gave away his position immediately and blew any chance for bluffing Hai. And then he just folds.
If Daniel wins, then itâll be one of the greatest comebacks in history. Heâs erratic, forgetful (canât remember he still had the idol message in the front of his shorts? Howâs that possible? Whereâs the Purell?), dropped Mikeâs idol in the woods and claimed he never took it in the first place, a poor poker player and has a bum shoulder, which can pop out again at any time.
Maryanne being the one to say the ârabbit having dinner in a mailboxâ line is just perfect, since no one has any idea what sheâs talking about half the time anyway.
Overall, the cast of Season 42 is pretty weak in terms of physical strength, compared to other seasons, IMO.
Though the guy who single-handedly completed the immunity challenge for his tribe makes up for all of their weaknesses!!!
From a pre-season interview:
Which past Survivor will you play the game most like?
Ozzy
Mmmmm. Might want to rethink that strategy.
But for eye candy alone, I hope he stays a while.
