okay, maybe im just worrying too much, but it's been bugging me for a few days so just thought i mite ask for some opinion. I am accepted to Northwestern under ED, and I withdrew my application to my other RD schools, one of them being USC. However, a few days ago I receieved my acceptence letter to USC. Now I dont know how it happend, cause I called the admissions office back in December and spoke to a officer to withdraw my application. But now i find out that i'm accepted..i read somewhere that colleges share lists of the students they accepted, and NU might not like it if they see me on USC's admit list. Any thoughts?
oh yea. i already sent in the card telling USC i will be attending NU and not USC.

Northwestern won't do anything to you, especially since you did follow the rules of ED and told USC that you wouldn't be going. I'd just tell USC again that you were admitted to NU under ED (and tell them that you already tried withdrawing your application when you were accepted so they don't get suspicious). Maybe call them and write a letter this time to make sure that nothing screwy happens again.

I withdrew all of my apps (only ones done were UCLA, USC, Juilliard) as well after acceptance to NU. I called and e-mailed both UCLA and USC-sent a letter to USC and Juilliard as well. I still continue to get mail from USC and UCLA. I e-mailed both again-the guy at UCLA responded that he did not see a "withdraw" statement in my file. Never heard from USC. I asked both schools to send me something verifying my withdrawl and neither did.

I saved all of my e-mail correspondance so at least I have something to prove I withdrew.

m3ssi-did you save any correspondance?

When the ED results were announced last December a number of people on the CC boards recommended simple, to the point withdrawal letters and sending them either registered or return receipt....some even included self addressed stamped notecards....

...most of these colleges are buried in mail now so all you can do is follow up ...as long as you're not trying to be deceptive I wouldn't worry...

primab-
I'm having the same problem with UCLA...the UC system's central application center asked for just an e-mail, but i recently checked up on it because of what happend with USC, and apparently i need to send a signed letter. I'm doing that on monday. With USC, I called them (on the phone), so i dont have any email vertification, and afterwards i never got anything from them indicating i withdrew. The other UCs I applied to Berkely and Irvine, im not on thier online application check up thing anymore, so those are fine.

Man-they never told me to send a signed letter. Thanks for the warning. Would you mind giving me the address for UCLA's withdrawal letter?

Thanks for the help.

primab- it's
UCLA Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools

and include your name, social security number, and application ID number

Thank you very much m3ssi-appreciate it!

primab, you're very welcome. i'd suggest checking with USC though , considering what happened with me.. and i actually spoke to an admisson person on the phone -_- and somehow my application didnt get withdrawn.

Glad to see some Californian HS kids choose NU instead of UCLA/USC/UCB; I live in LA and it seems like most people only know about UCLA/USC; but then they don't know much about other stuffs either, other than the latest Hollywood gossips or models of BMWs.... ;)

alright, haha i caved and went to go bug my guidence cousleor to call NU, we talked to the director, and everthing is okay :) but yea, thankz to everyone that responded. and Sam Lee.. hehe i know about holllywood gossip too.. but i'd like to think i know more than that :p ..as for cars.. im pretty much car illiterate.. as my freind's boyfreind can talk endlessly about RSX or wahtever the newest accord and mazda race car model is or something like that and i can only have a blank face. I drive a 1991 toyata corolla so go figure :p. I chose NU cause.. well UCs.. didnt have my major (journalism) for undergrad, and USC's program isn't as good as NU's .. and i've been wanting to go outta state since i was like 6 so, im happy, although the weather in evanston is slighting worrying my So. Cal tuned body...
