Any tips for the personal statement?

Hi everyone! This weekend I have time to work on my personal statement, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I've been trying to get an appointment with a counselor, but they are constantly overbooked. I'm just looking for some guidance before having it reviewed by a professor.

Just some quick information about myself. I'm a politcal science major with a 4.0 gpa. By the end of the fall semester, I will have completed prerequisites and the IGETC. I'm applying to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, and UCSB. I have only volunteered once for over a year, which was at a community organization that assists immigrants in legal matters. I have had two part time jobs since graduating high school and attending community college.

I'm worried that I won't be considered a competitive applicant because I lack volunteer experience and extra curricular activities.
