Any tips for visiting?

I’m running a bit late and am just visiting Brown now at the end of the month (I’m a senior). Does anyone who has visited or anyone who attends have advice for visiting to make it the most productive trip possible? I’m very excited to finally get to see the campus after all this time!!

i have the same question, and will be visiting at about the same time. see you there, possibly!

If you're into science the physical sciences tour is excellent, though there are a lot of new guides right now.

Make sure to look around the neighborhood on the East Side of Providence, drive behind the sciences area all the way to the river and get lost a bit to get a feel for the area.

Eat food at restaurants that students eat at, etc.

Check the class schedule and see if there is something you'd like to attend:

http://mocha.cs.brown.edu

Try and get one of the traditionally large but well-liked classes...

PS22, BI20, BI50, PS11, BN1, CH35, CS15, etc.

Heck, if you're into chemistry/physics, CH115 is awesome and really well taught and if you email Professor Stratt before hand I'm sure you could sit in on the course...

what day are you going to be there acadec lol? I'll be there on the 29th :)

thanks for the reply modestmelody, i'll take a look at the class schedule. i'm actually more interested in the humanities but thank you for the advice :)

oh, i think i'm there the 21st. good luck on your visit and admissions, anyway!

I'm visiting too, but at the end of march. I have two full days booked for Brown/ Providence. I'll probably do the physical sciences tour, but are there any tours I should avoid?? Any other reccomended ones? thanks!

volleysnap you should try to go to ps22 (city politics) but it's a tues/thurs class. It's in a huge hall so no one would really even notice you were sitting in.

you guys should stop by nice slice on thayer and get some amazing pizza, go to the prospect terrace park which is close, and I'd go to federal hill on the other side of downtown too. I'd also walk down benefit st, go to the RISD museum and the RISD library if you can get in (not sure).

thanks for all the help everyone, I am at Brown right now. I did the tour this morning and am getting ready to go out to dinner (I'm going to suggest nice slice :D)

PS I think the best part on the tour was when they explained that the science library has 14 floors and each one corresponds to a number/color on the pH scale... and the fact that they had a giant tetris game on the side of it once

Trivial but important-

-Kabob and Curry...get the bread basket...mmmm.

-If you're not that adventurous, check out Antonio's...heaven!

-The bobbleheads in the Brown Bookstore...

-Visit the RISD Store. You'll feel cool and not cool enough simultaneously.

As for useful advice...I don't have any, lol.

nice slice > antonio's

Via Via > Nice Slice (for NY style pizza)

Nice Slice > Antonios for basic slices

Antonios >>>>> than all for anything crazy.

I had Via Via once and the food was okay. However the guy working yelled at me for resting my foot on the seat next to me. Won't be going back.

I never go inside Via Via. Order a pie for delivery, you'll be satisfied.

like i said, the one pizza i hasnt wasnt too amazing. it was the hawaiian. the margherita at nice slice on the other hand....mmmm. just had a buffalo chicken from there a minute ago. very nice.

Personal favorites are the plain cheese and mushroom + pepperoni.
