Any tips on reasonable car rental rates in Baltimore?

We’re flying into BWI from Nov. 23-28 for Thanksgiving week to meet up with our family of five. Car rentals for that week for a car / SUV that can accommodate 5 adults start around $750 and many exceed $1,000. Do you know of any economical alternatives to the regular airport car rental companies?

Have you looked on Turo? It’s a private “car sharing” company that often times is less expensive with more options.

I booked a car through Turo for Orlando this October for a week. A 2021 model for $341 versus $571 for the cheapest traditional car rental I could find.

Car rentals have been crazy lately, but I have had past success with https://www.autoslash.com/

Some folks have reported success with Costco.com car rentals. It helps to check often.

Thanks for the responses! I wasn’t familiar with Turo, but it only stands to reason that there’d be an Airbnb for cars. Instead of paying a major company $750 for a compact two-row SUV, I got an older 3-row SUV for $330. Perfect!

Beware of last minute cancellations… if the car owner can find a higher bidder, it can happen. Also, see if there are hidden charges such as cleaning fees etc. If I were you, I would keep my Costco reservation just in case and check periodically to see if the rate has dropped. By doing this, we got our car rental down to $200 from $450 recently.
