I just got rejected from the President's Society. The highest honor society at my school. Hopefully rutgers will be an acceptance.

Hi guys, I also applied to Rutgers sometimes in November. They got all my documents by 01/15 but I haven't heard from them yet :(

Anyways, does anyone know whether my chances are lower being a Pennsylvania resident and CC student?

NYU dreamer. You should be fine as long as your college record is consistently good. No sign of decline. As long as you maintaned a 3.5 overall GPA, made the dean's list and wrote a killer essay, your in. The fact that your from penn., won't matter that much. How come your not applying to Penn State. Its better than rutgers. Both schools are tier II schools but Penn State has stronger academic programs. This is my perspective, im going with what a counselor from rutgers told me. Good luck.

PSU is not better than Rutgers...

I want to go to Rutgers Business School, which is definitely better than Penn, I think. However, my reason for not going to Penn is that my husband works in New Jersey so we want to move there anyway. As for my college record, I have 4.0 after 3 semesters in CC but who knows if my essay can be considered killer :) I also thought that they don't require essay from transfers. I wrote it though. Well hopefully, I will hear from them soon...or at least any school to be secured :)

From what I've heard they don't read the essays.

I highly recommend writing an essay(transfer or no transfer). It will differentiate you from the other applicants. You need to put a face with your application. Unfortunately, I did not write and essay and will have to forfeit my chance of getting accepted. Most likely, I will have to reapply. But I don't understand everybody on this site coming from a cc is getting 4.0s Im coming from a univeristy and nothing close to a 4.0. By no means am I discrediting anyone from a cc with a 4.0 but its just seems odd that majority of applicants from cc are getting 3.8s and 4.0s. If you look at American Buinsess Weekly 2008, Penn State is just slightly higher in ranking than rutgers. Personally, I dont care but these are the facts my friends. But NYU dreamer, you should have no problem getting in, your stats are excellent. I suggest calling up a rutgers counselor and running your stats by him. He will tell you bluntly if you have a shot of getting in. If you want, you can meet with him and show your face and explain your situation. Good Luck to everyone.

Thats ludacris Njd.

I dont know whatever you guys what to think is fine. Im just trying to get in like everybody else. Just be patient and wait. Dont get caught up in the hype of top tier schools. For example, look at the CEO of verizon, graduated from PACE with an MBA. He a millionaire and sitting on a big chunk of change. Its what you make of it. And no you will not a few thous more b/c u graduated from rutgers.

njd i agree with you. 35,000 applications ron, they cant sit and read every essay. they probably only read it and take extra curriculars and volunteer work to consider when the applicant is iffy

Does anybody know the average GPA for transfers last year?

Here are some interesting statistics for us transfer applicants:

In response to the poor academic performance exhibited by many incoming
transfer students (see Figures 2), in addition to the increased ease of web-registration
(which often precludes advising), the department initiated the additional Summer
Orientation program in early August to address academic expectations at the university
more detail, and created a how-to guide for students who initiated email contact
were unable to attend registration sessions. Follow up assessments on both first-year and
transfer populations are still needed.

Average drop in GPA among students from 2-year schools, excluding the Bunting population= .6(52 students)
Average drop in GPA, Bunting only=.18(based on data for 22 students)

im having trouble understanding that, what does it mean in a nutshell?

I don't think that really means anything unless you know the context of it.

Im kind of confused myself but basically it says that during 2003 the average GPA for bunting tranfers( not sure what a bunting transfer is?) was higher than regular transfers. There's hope for transfers with a 3.4, 3.5 according to the average GPA recordings. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any statistics from 2007 on the web. I wouldn't pay too much attention to this considering its outdated. I found it in a PDF file on the web. I was suprised that the average GPA for CC is a 2.87. I thought it would be much higher. Hopefully we will get a response this week.

Guys, just ignore it. I thought it would be useful but there's better info out there than this.

Grrr. I just want to know already.

guys bunting cobb is a scholars thing its actually the name of a dorm too on douglass

No offense to anyone, but its these chinese and indian kids with their perfect SAT scores and GPAs that are stealing chances away from a White Italian kid like me!!!

Is Rutgers open tommorrow?
