A friend of mine has been accepted as a transfer and I'm still waiting on a decision. I called Bing and they said that FRESHMAN decisions have been finalized and sent and are still accepting transfers but I don't know if that means all transfer decisions have been sent out as well. I tried checking online and there is no category that says OFFICIAL ADMISSION DECISION. It just lists the basic info.

Level: Undergraduate
Program: Harpur Undeclared UG
Catalog Term: Fall 2010
College: UG Harpur
Major and Department: Undeclared, Undeclared
Date Created: Feb 10, 2010

Will the Official admission decision be posted soon or should I continue to hope for mail? I'm terribly nervous especially because I tried to bill-pay thing and it said I wasn't eligible to pay a bill. Have any of you transfers heard back yet?

After doing a bit more research, I see the back-door method is useless so ignore that part.

There is no set date for transfer admissions notification. It’s on a rolling basis until the class is filled. For freshman applicants, the decision date is April 1.

Admissions’ website claims that decisions are sent via U.S. Mail only. I say “claims” because a friend of mine who transferred here this semester checked her application status page, and it said “Accepted. Congratulations!” on her page. I’m not sure if they’d post an update if you were denied, because their internal status phrase doesn’t sugar coat it (“Denied.”).

I wouldn’t say the backdoor is useless at all, I can tell you its been accurate for nearly every one who tried it, maybe 2 or 3 people have been the exception.

I’m sure the exceptions who went out and celebrated their “acceptances” were oh-so-jubilant when they checked their mail and found a rejection letter. If a method isn’t 100% accurate, why would you trust it for something so important?

I had applied last term and it definitely did say “Denied” but as of now there is no simply no category for that and that makes me nervous. It’s still better than saying denied but I’m very anxious. I understand that there is no set date for transfer admission notification but a friend of mine did receive acceptance which is why I was confused. I guess I will try the backdoor message a little later then. Thanks for your help.

Are any of you other transfers having similar issues? Have you heard back yet? My friend who got in lives in brooklyn and I live in Harlem and he heard back on March 25th.

Dreamworld, I am in the same boat as you and I am out in Nassau and others here have gotten their transfer letters in LI according to the forum. I see no change under the application status and I can’t pay a deposit. I suppose this is because we are either wait listed/rejected or our applications are still being looked at. I am hoping for the latter, as well as hoping that there is still room left if it is the latter. I am losing hope though.

Good to see I’m not alone but I wish you the best. Do they do waitlisting for transfers? As I understand there is still room left because they are still accepting applications.

Thanks, the same to you. Actually, I am not sure if transfers can get wait listed, I really hope so, better than getting rejected. Room being left depends on the different colleges such as SOM or Harpur. I applied to SOM and I don’t know if they still have room left. I would imagine Harpur would have the most room as its the least selective AFAIK

I received my acceptance a while ago. Almost three weeks ago, and it still doesn’t say accepted on my BUBrain account. If thats any consolation

I’m just glad it doesn’t say “denied” yet. I check about every hour to see if it’s been updated. I live in New York so I’m surprised my letter of rejection or acceptance hasn’t been received. Unless of course a decision is yet to be made.

Hey Dreamworld, under your Application Status, does it indicate anywhere that your application is ready for review or has been reviewed? I see no sign on mine being ready for review or its been reviewed, etc, all I see I see is “Not Entered” under “Application Preference”

Hi, everyone! Seems like we have same issue here. I also haven’t heard from Binghamton. Don’t know what takes they so long…BTW, does anyone know how to find out whether our application is under review?

Hi, so it may takes up to May or later to received the notification?

thats so weird, maybe it depends on when you sent everything in. I got my decision march 2, a week after everything was recieved

Mine was sent out March 2nd. Received on 8th.

It does depend on when you sent it at least for some transfers. I sent it Feb 12th I think but it wasn’t “created” in the system till the 16th because of the long President’s day weekend. All my requirements were received on March 1, 2 and 3. I think they really just haven’t gotten to all the transfers yet. That is why I haven’t even received a rejection letter if I was rejected, because they haven’t even touched it. If I was accepted, I would be able to pay the deposit by now because I heard the moment you get your green envelope, you can log in and pay the deposit.

BTW I know this is the wrong forum for this, but any transfers applied to Albany and not received an acceptance already? Unlike Bing, that’s been complete and ready for review for a while now.

I called and they did say they were still working on some transfer applications. I express mailed a midterm report on march 14th and they received it the 15th but its noted received as the 16th. I guess they are still doing them. It says they’re even still accepting new transfer apps. Do you guys think a strong college transcript paired with a strong college midterm report will help them overlook a really poor hs performance because that’s what I’m riding on.

I found I got into Harpur around March 3rd! I didn’t send them any mid term reports or anything. I’m debating Geneseo and Bing.

Here are my pros and cons

Can commute to Geneseo since it’s only about 40 mins away
Commuting might suck cuz driving 40 minutes each way 3x a week (only scheduling classes mwf) will be quite annoying
Heard Geneseo has smaller class sizes than Bing
Bing is a university so I will probably get more chances to network and make connections
and I want to go to law school after undergrad and Bing so the above reason will probably help
Bing is ranked higher
Bing is much bigger and more diverse, whereas Geneseo is very homogeneous
Geneseo will be dirt cheap for me since I’ll at home in Rochester, but Bing will cost me around 8-10k for room and board.

I think I’d like Bing a lot more but it’s mostly coming down to money for me and I just don’t want to go into debt 20k for two years.

What do you guys think?
