Has anybody from the UK applied EA or are going to apply RD? If not UK, anywhere in Europe?

Well, i'm a british school and i'm applying Stanford RD. I also did apply UCAS. How about you?

Nope. I'm in America. I noticed this girl from China with not amazing stats got in, so I started thinking about all the international applicants. I hadn't heard of any from Europe, only Asia. Do you know of a lot of people from your school or Europe that are applying? Where else are you applying? What's UCAS?

my friend got into Princeton ED from England, but she has amazing stats. i don't think that being intl helps you that much in admissions. you still have to be competitive, intl or not

Oh no, i totally agree. I'm thinking the girl from China either was a legacy, or amazing essays and ECs. I have faith in all of Stanford's decisions. So as not to forget my question, tenniscraze, "Do you know of a lot of people from your school or Europe that are applying? Where else are you applying? What's UCAS?"

I'm the only person who's applying to Stanford in my school - the rest of them are going to UK. UCAS is a system where all applicants to the UK unis have to go through. You basically fill a UCAS form and you're allowed a choice of up to 6 universities. Mine was imperial, birmingham, standrews, royal holloway, nottingham and edinburgh.

Other US unis i'm applying - UC berkeley, UCLA, UC davies, carnegie, NYU, indiana, wisconsin, illinois, michigan, virginia, florida

hey, i'm applying to St Andrews, and I live in America, how competative is it? could you tell me more about the school?

It depends on your intended course really... For me, I plan to major in math-psychology in st andrews and the offer on the UCAS website was 32 points (IB). You can access www.ucas.ac.uk to find out what their typical offers in different unis based on your intended course. Please note that the conditional offer they eventually give is quite likely to be different from what's stated on the UCAS website. It depends on how much they want you. Hope this helps! good luck

It's obvious the girl from China is relatively weak only in English. I don't think legacy helps that much. I suspect she probably went to IMO/IPhO (and if that's the case, she likey got the gold medal since that's what most of their team members usually get).

Sam, a friend of mine got a bronze medal in IPhO for Indonesia and she got into Stanford. But during the admissions process, they hadn't found out about it.
