I'm applying in the next couple of days since they're still accepting applications. I was wondering if anyone who had applied to Wake Forest or Emory in the past as a transfer could chime in and post their stats and their experiences.

Thanks.

I’ve heard that Wake Forest has a country club feel to it…as in it’s very preppy :/

Heh, I’m transferring out of a preppy LAC :P. I don’t mind, though.

I would pick Emory in a heartbeat… plus it’s in ATL <3

Heh I’ll go anywhere that gives me the most aid, haha.

oh yeah, plus if you transferred to Emory you’d be able to adjust very easily b/c the kids from Oxford College transfer to the main campus after 2 years.

You should also apply to Oxford just in case !(they give the same fin aid as emory)…if you’re applying as a soph transfer?

I called Oxford today and they told me I was illegible to apply because I had an Associates from high school, and an additional 36 credits from my LAC. I think I’m going to apply to Oxford anyway and try and plead my case there. Not sure if the alleged “stigma” from Oxford is worth it, though.

that stigma about Oxford is BS…seriously this is CC. But you should give it a shot anyway?

Will do. I have some good points as far as the CommonApp essay is concerned.

@eastafrobeauty - Yeah, Wake Forest is like what you said. Hence why I’m transferring out. Some people’s cup of tea, but not mine.

Just sent in my withdrawal form to Wake Forest’s office of academic advising today, so there’s definitely a spot waiting for you :)

:D

Thanks, yo. I’m going to call tomorrow to make sure they’re still accepting applicants, and then go around and e-mail my siblings until someone puts up the $50 application fee xD

Btw, do you know anything about the aid at Wake Forest?

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Some people love it. Some people don’t.

I was spring grade requested at Wake Forest but will be depositing if accepted; hopefully here in the next few weeks!

Ah, do you mind posting or messaging me your stats? I’ll definitely do the same.

i transferred to emory. it also has that kind of country club feel to it. i love it so much at emory. message me if you want to know more, or if you want my stats. i’d be glad to help in any way!

Check your inbox :D

also, i wouldn’t bother applying to oxford. they won’t have any classes for you there since you’ve most likely finished most of your general requirements. you’d have to take the shuttle to emory’s campus for classes which would really suck. and the stigma is real, btw. i have friends that are from oxford, but the general view is that they aren’t as smart/intellectual (i’m not saying i think that, it’s just what a lot of people seem to think)

@emory12: inbox me your stats! I want advice on how you got into Emory as a transfer do you know how selective they are for transfer? I’ve heard that their transfer rate is in the 30-40 percentiles and according to their school newspaper, “the Emory Wheel” they have been trying to target more transfer students.

how did you adjust academically? I’ve heard that emory is home of curve grading…
