Any young MENSA members here?

<p>Do we have any young MENSA members out here on CC?</p>

<p>I'm not a member, but I've been thinking about it. My grandfather was a member, and my IQ falls within range. Would being a MENSA member help in college admissions (i know, obsessive) ???</p>

<p>ENvitablyWharton: if you do a search on MENSA here on CC, you'll find a similar chorus about it's worth in college admissions. (hint: it doesn't have a great reputation)</p>

<p>Surely someone with a high IQ score can think of an exception to this statement. </p>

<p>Mensa can be a good organization, and good to mention on your application if you are active in it and DO something.</p>

<p>I got into the international high IQ society, not as good as mensa but still. They were going to charge me $75 and I was like "NO!". I mean whats the point? No one is going to care. That's what the SAT is there for. This reminded of the time that I paid $80 to join my (previous) college's honors society whose sole requirement was a 3.5 gpa. Then it hit me. I knew I needed a 3.5+ to get into my current college so putting it on my app wasn't going to help b/c all it says is that I got a 3.5+ which my transcript clearly shows.</p>

<p>What's that supposed to mean? Because they're rappers or Playboy Bunnies they're automatically not legitimate based on their profession?</p>

<p>I highly doubt Chino XL is unintelligent...</p>
