anybody applying/accepted/know my chances at these schools?

brown, upenn, jhu, wesleyan, oberlin, colorado college

gpa:4.2 weighted, 3.something not perfect unweighted

sat I: 1560 (780/780)
SATII: 800 writing, 750 spanish, 750 math IIC
ACT:34

IB scores: 6 history (SL) 6 spanish (sL)

decent ECs: cancer research at UCCS 10-12 incl. awards at science fair (1st, 2nd at state, some scholarships etc)
president of theater club and everything that entails
piano - since i was six, nat'l guild of piano teachers/american musician something honoree (but i'm scared of competitions, so none of that)
swim team for four years (i'm not any good, but shows commitment)
other small stuff (volunteering on political campaigns, public speaking, history day awards, choir, summer programs etc, but no awards/distinctions)

so my grades are my low point and my scores are my strength; recs good (esp. teacher ones); essays middling to decent (mom loves them, but i don't really trust her opinion, i think i've written better, but its so hard to find an effective way of baring your soul to strangers in 500 words! maybe people could read them and give me feedback, pm me)

obviously brown and penn are pretty hard core reaches, tho my dad went to penn for grad school so i don't know how much that'd help.
hopkins and wes should be reasonable, tho still on the reach end of things (Dad did undergrad at hopkins, and i babysit for the local wes alumni rep's kids, any idea whether that could help?)
any ideas?
greatly appreciated.

i was accepted ED To JHU, i think you have a good shot at all of them, particularly if you are in the top 10% of your class. Your scores are very high, your GPA is solid enough to give you a reasonable shot, and your ECs look pretty decent. Any big name recognition on the research like Siemens or ISEF or something? If the recs and essays are solid you are a good candidate

i got edged out of top 10%, but def. top 15... no siemens (though i think i'm submitting stuff to further competitions in the next couple of months, that doesn’t really count) and since our csef is so ****ed i didn't get to go to isef when i shoulda... so less strong than all that, i guess. still ok?

Hello,

I think you have a great shot at most of those schools. As great of a shot as anyone could, really.

I was accepted ED to Oberlin College, and I'm really excited about it. I have a couple of friends that were accepted, as well. Also, a girl from my school was accepted ED to Wesleyan, and she had way lower board scores than you (in the mid-high 1300's, I think), with about a 3.7 GPA, and tons of Girl Scout and community oriented EC's.

Anyway, best of luck. I'm sure everything will turn out fine!

Trevor

bump, by the way.
