Anybody applying to SSP?

The first deadline, February 24th, is coming up.

Anybody applying to SSP? It sounds way fun.

I will probably apply, but I won't make the first deadline. It's too expensive, though.

There IS Financial Aid - do any of you know how generous they are? Is it 100% need-based?

My brochure was addressed to "RyanOG88 or Current Occupant"

I was not impressed

the financial aid is very generous, and it is all need-based

don't let the cost turn you away from applying; if you get in but can't afford it, ssp will make sure you can still come

I did. Their application was more fun than those of other programs out there. As a sophomore, I was deferred last year so if i choose to, I will go this year.

i did too, its only my backup program tho since it is really expensive however i was surprised that it takes place on obscure campuses

Did anybody get an email back yet?

i applied and i made the first deadline. i just received an email saying that i got accepted. anyone else accepted yet??

yes I received an email also saying that I got accepted!!

what is your stats. (those who were accepted)

238 PSAT (80 M, 78 R, 80 W)
800 World History, Chinese
790 Math 2
770 Physics
5 AP Calculus, World History
2 year AIME qualifier
Miscellaneous math awards, competitions.

lol im actually surprised that i got accepted with my stats, not outstanding at all, mayb the early deadline helped or possibly my essays?
psat: 200
act: 31
rank: 2/531
gpa: 4.615 w, 4.0 uw
4 ap's this year
independent research at local university done last summer
no major awards
regular EC's like NHS, etc.

Or maybe the program isn't that selective? Anything that you have to pay extravagant sums of money for is not particularly selective.

einnoc07, u probably had great recs or great essays

when i was at ssp, not all of the people had great stats or great awards (like the kids at rsi probably do), but they were all EXTREMELY intelligent and fun to be with

this year's early acceptances were amazing, and those same kids with the "mediocre stats" and "average awards" are going to places like harvard and mit

im pretty sure the program is fairly selective
