I agree. collegepreppy obviously has nothing better to do than try to make everyone feel inadequate because their child has selected an "inferior" avenue of education. My question is why he/she is even on this forum. Obviously he/she thinks he/she is educating the world with his/her infinite wisdom but really all that is happening is that everyone else is being dished out more of the snobbery that circulates around the "upper eschelons" of this site.

Agreed here, too, csleslie and SK1. We can all go back to the happy anticipation of meeting up in the fall, and let preppy go back to the hole he came out of. (Interesting that in addition to his obsession with rankings, along with his poor spelling and grammar, he hasn't emerged to reveal to us in all his glory the impressive school he attends. But no matter--we can rest easy that the likes of him have opted to go elsewhere...)

No need to reply, Preppy--I think we may all be making a silent but uniform vow not to respond to any more of your bile.

Happy May, & happy graduations to all--

strange, collegeprep (at least I think its the same person..) commented on the caltech board saying s/he was picked willamette over caltech. even the post was deleted, Im guessing they said on here that they didnt like willamette?

any additional comments?

You won't see much discussion of Willamette caliber schools on CC. Most posters are more concerned with the more "elite" ones back east and some in the midwest. There seems to be a black hole for anywhere in the west with the exception of Reed, Stanford, Pomona and Cal Tech. Willamette is trying to put together a parent network.

Willamette has been a good fit for my D-now a soph. But you have to enjoy the NW weather- we live SW so it is a big change but she loves it. She really wanted a different climate and terrain! Willamette is prob similar to other NW liberal arts schools, other than Whitman which is prob the most selective. She picked it over lewis & clark and UPS. Did not apply to Whitman- she might not have gotten in anyway but we dismissed it because it was a little too hard to get to from the SW - that was an important consideration for us.

We visited in early Oct this year and had glorious fall weather- school is close to downtown and the capital building. D likes small class sizes and easy interaction w/profs- ratio of f/m is 55 to 45 percent. Similar to most small schools it seems.

The train noise is forgotten by most of the kids pretty fast- we joke about it over the phone, when we can sometimes hear it ourselves! My D started out w/earplugs last year (she is an only child) but she has pretty much learned to sleep through everything now.

Good luck on your decisions- my advice is to visit and spend a night if you can- that was the deciding factor for my D-
