I walked out of my AP English test nearly in tears. I was extremely sick the day of the test and ended up guessing the last 15 multiple choice answers and writing awful, four paragraph essays stuffed with cliches. After the multiple choice, I knew that I was going to fail and that's all I could think about. I felt awful knowing that my English teacher had never had someone receive a score below 3, and I'd be the first.

I got a 5.

I honestly think they SOMEHOW made a mistake. My friends who are much better writers than me all pulled 3's and 4's.

Are 5's a lot more common than I thought?? And were you completely shocked by your scores?

Do they score them on a curve?
Maybe everyone else that year was even more awful. Which really wouldn’t surprise me. A lot of people at my school think “My essay will be about _____” is a good way to start a paper.

I was shocked by my scores too. APUSH I was so sure I had gotten a 1. I ended up with a 3. I know that’s not that great, but it’s passing and I was thrilled.

I was very disappointed in my APES and Psych scores. I got 3s on both of those. I know I could’ve done so much better. However, they were on the same day so by the time I got to psych I was just so exhausted and wanted to go home. Never again will I take 2 AP exams on the same day. Looking back, there was a lot I couldve done better on psych had I not been exhausted.

AP Lang was kind of expected. The MC was very easy for me, so I was counting on that to get me a passing score. I’m satisfied with that score (3).

You don’t have to do well, just better than what other people normally do. The scary thing about doing horribly on a test but scoring highly is that it demonstrates just how bad a lot of students are.

My very first IB exam (math) was really overwhelming, I felt crunched for time, and didn’t even understand some of the questions. Got a 7 out of 7.

Just don’t take them together. Some schools (like mine) don’t allow breaks between the 2. Bring snacks for in between if they let you eat (some schools don’t, which sucks). Sleep a lot the night before the exams. (you’ll need it) By the time I got to the last psych essay I had written 5 essays and answered 200 MC questions and I was honestly just guessing on it. I could’ve done so MUCH better had I not had APES right before. I knew the information, I just couldn’t think of it then.

The percent you have to get right for a 5 varies every year and in every subject. For ap Chemistry it typically is near 65% but for apush sometimes it’s higher since more people take the test.
