Anybody else still waiting for lmu?

my son waitlisted Film and Television Production major - found out by checking application status online. No letter yet.

Got the letter in the mail today.

Is there anyone else still waiting? (Film Production here)

did you check my lmu? they said everyone should hear by the end of this month

Yeah, I’ve checked, but it still says “currently under review”. Well I guess I can wait till midnight tonight and see if anything changes.

I’m a film production major and still “Currently under review” too:((((

Mine changed yesterday to wait listed (film major). So sad. LMU was my first choice.

Film production, still “currently under review”. I think they are sending the film students out last, at least it would appear that way.

Ew… Mine just changed to “application denied” and I have a sick taste in my mouth… Why would they make us wait up til april 1st with no indication of when it would change and then just flat out rejection. Something tells me they didn’t have enough admission people this year or something. I promise I’m not being bitter just because of the rejection. It’s just the process that bothers me.

I’m sorry about the rejection HeyitsLC :frowning:
I haven’t heard other way but I got the sense their incredibly disorganized. I hope you find a school you love!

I’m very disappointed with how LMU communicates with their applicants and their efficiency. I was an EA applicant and didn’t know that I was deferred until i called them. They had told me that they had sent a letter to my address but I never received it, even though I check the mail every day. Now it’s April 1st and mylmu still says “currently under review”.

Are you a transfer or a freshman applicant?

Hey all,

I too still have yet to hear a thing from LMU as an applicant who turned in the paperwork in February. Other Universities have got back to me in a decently timely manner with even applications that were turned in mid March. I am a film applicant still waiting on the response from this University. I have been accepted to a couple other film programs including USC, CalArts, Drexel, Chapman and Emerson. I even called admissions and explained to them that two of these schools require me to make a seat deposit by May 1st. They seemed blase about the whole situation and said well we have a lot of applicants. I was baffled because so do a lot of other schools and they responded. I visited LMU and they do have a rather impressive set of equipment, however what I feel they may be lacking is the most important of all in all departments… organization and simply connections. I decided to go to ahead and take my seat at CalArts because they seemed really invested in me and the professors there seem to be really sound. With backgrounds in all genres of film from traditional narratives to abstract art using film as the medium. I hope I made the right decision, however I am still curious as to what the response is from LMU. This is just crazy late to be waiting on a reply and I kinda wish I could take back my application fee. This feels somewhat disrespectful to me as a student. That’s just my take.

I am shocked you have not heard a decision by now, even waitlisted. Are you sure there is not some mistake? Did they understand you have not gotten any decision at all? Did you speak to the head of admissions?

I talked to a lady and she said everyone should be informed by May 1st. She went on to say they simply have an abundance of applications…lol.

Yes, but last month they said everyone would know by April 1. You may want to ask to speak with the head of admissions. May 1 gives you no time to make a decision.

To be honest I made my decision and it’s not them. I just feel like I got scammed by being stressed, waiting, and still not hearing a response. Latest update as of midnight last night under my applications it shows I have non but I have no response either. There will be a heated call come 9 am west coast.

Oh, I see you decided on CalArts. Congrats! CalArts is very well respected and extremely selective! (I used to live 15 minutes away from there.)

I doubt kinetictechno will be back to look at this, but did you apply as a freshman?
If so, applications and other materials were due in January. I’m not surprised then that you have not heard. I was accepted into Animation in the film school. The film school in itself is very competitive to get get into, with class sizes being very small. If they even ACCEPTED your materials being as late as they were, they had probably already filled up their classes.

@sospice are you transfer? And have you received your financial aid award? If so, would you say it was a quiet generous amount considering the expense of the school?

I’m a transfer and was accepted on Thursday, but still have not received anything from financial aid.
