Hi-Q team is an academic quiz bowl thing for delaware county Pennsylvannia.

but anyway, my team advisor just sent me some study materials for the up coming team season. it's a lot of stuff, about a 5 inch stack of materials, and that's only for 2 subjects. i'll still have to study physics, shakespeare, mathematics, and US history. whew!

anybody here do Hi-Q?

LOL....Nope but in Florida I have A-Team, not Mr. T, Academic Team.

Both my kids did Hi-Q. Yes, it's alot of work, but it WILL help you as a student. You will grow in ways you didn't think if you really try at it.

Don't be that guy that doesn't do the work and then makes dumb ass answers during a match thinking they're funny. Ya just look stupid to your peers and the student body. If you're smart, be smart, don't be stupid up there. You'll gain respect from people you wouldn't think you would from.

It's a great EC. It will get you reading the paper and looking at the news. It will improve you by rounding you out a bit. If you're good at it and your team plays infront of your school, ( ours were held as inschool assemblys broadcast on the radio and covered by the newspaper) you will gain respect from your classmates. Competition creates student support. At ours, the crowds erupted like they would at a basketball game.. pretty cool for a bunch of "nerds".

Nothing's more fun than beating other schools in any competition. Your classmates will support you if you win, so give it a real shot.

yeah, that's what i'm looking foward to...THE COMPETITION... i love to compete. and i know exactly what u mean about the kids who say dumb stuff during the competiton....i'm definitely not one of those. thanks for your post.

I did last year. Would have this year but the teacher in charge of it created a qualifying test that was 50% Biology (she is a bio teacher). So the only students that went are the ones who were taking Bio which was funny because in our school Bio is for students who can't handle any advanced math/Chem and. We actually won the first round but lost in the second.
