Anybody play guitar?

Does anybody on here play guitar? I have recently started playing the guitar and know the basic chords, notes, etc. I was wondering what some easy songs would be to play at this level.

Through the Fire and Flames on Expert.

I wasn’t talking about guitar hero. lol. I was talking about an acoustic guitar.

So they made real instruments based on a video game?

What genre of songs?

of course. nobody knew what a guitar was until the plastic toy with the colorful buttons infiltrated our gaming systems a couple of years ago.

on another note, I was hoping for rock songs. i know it is a goal in the future, but I would love to be able to play stairway to heaven. I am also a big fan of the beatles and pink floyd. It doesn’t have to be those bands, but I would like to learn some easy rock songs to play on the acoustic guitar.

Yeah, Stairway to Heaven is a really good Beatles song.

Quacoh, don’t wear out your trolly welcome.

On a more “srs” note, if you have an electric, try some Green Day songs. Most of them are pretty simple and consist of a lot of power chords. If acoustic, maybe Beatles would be a better way to go. T.Rex is also really fun if you’re familiar with them.

+1 to you.

(By the way, I assume that you understand basic music theory). Blackbird with practice isn’t difficult at all, and it’s good practice for finger picking. For some good rhythm practice try the rhythm part for sultans of swing by the dire straits (make sure the strumming is up down up for the main chords, and there are variations to that, be careful!) Once you get a little bit better, you could try the solo from time by pink floyd on dark side of the moon. It was the first solo I ever learned, still play it today (5 years later). If you want to play a cool riff you could play a lot of led zeppelin like moby dick, heartbreaker, and black dog. You could try eric clapton and sunshine of your love (I know it’s corny but do it anyway). Learn the pentatonic scale, and memorize it and it’s different positions (maybe at first just the first position). Seriously it will help your improvising. If something is in let’s say C Major, go down 3 half steps, or A. That will be the first not of the pentatonic scale that you want to play for that song of the first position. If it is in C Minor, then just make the first note C. Go on youtube and play to some backing tracks. Don’t get ahead of yourself either. It takes a while to be able to solo very well. Stairway to heaven solo gave me a little bit of trouble, especially when the 32nd notes came in during the middle. The kinks have some fun easy powerchord based rhythm. Try You Really Got Me and All Day And All Of The Night. When you get better you can move onto some aerosmith which has a lot of great music for intermediate players like Dream on, same old song and dance and walk this way. Try doing the fingerpicking to Boston more than a feeling. I think that’s a good list. Try those!

wow, thanks for such the detailed list! any good websites where I can get some of the notes and stuff?

Lawl, those were the first two Kinks’ songs that I heard and they left me with a really warped impression of what the Kinks were really like.

Oasis - Wonderwall.

Oasis - Hello
It has the same little guitar intro as Wonderwall but it’s way more fun to play.

To get tabs and such go to www.ultimate-guitar.com
a great website

but for actual lessons that I’ve used as a beginner guitarist almost 2 years ago it really helped me.

[Online Guitar Lessons](http://www.guitartricks.com)

Yeah you have to pay, but if you do its worth it. They have video tutorials of some songs of different genres.

I personally prefer Rock/Metal, so I genouinly appreciated the “Unholy Confessions” by Avenged Sevenfold video tutorial. Although I can’t play it, I know in about another year or so when my practice habits improve I’ll have the song nailed!! :)

Someone to checkout for easy songs:
-Green Day

Blackbird is pretty darn easy to play. Here’s[/url">http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/b/beatles/blackbird_ver5_tab.htm"]Here’s an ace tab for it.
If you want to find tabs/chords for a song, all you have to do is Google it, really. Just type in the name of the song + chords/tab (depending on which you’re looking for) and you’ll find a billion links.
