It seems most of the CC'ers did not procrastinate and were already notified of their admission decision in the first round but I was curious to hear who was waiting anxiously for the second round of admission decisions in one week on Feb 20.

If you have not applied yet, today 2/13/08 is the last day for the final round on April 2. There will be 1,000 less students admitted this year so I would imagine you would have to be mighty competitive to get admitted in the last group.

Since decisions will be made public at UF on Feb 15 concerning admissions, it seems likely that many students accepted at FSU during round 1, but who chose to hear from UF before making their commitment to FSU will be scrambling to secure their slot at FSU prior to Feb 20.

If you are accepted in round 2 at FSU and want to attend there, I encourage you to apply for housing and make your commitment for enrollment. FSU will only have 2000 slots for incoming freshmen for summer and 3200 slots for fall of 2008. This is not a rumor, so don't procrastinate!

yeah I'm waiting to hear on Feb 20th.
what do you guys think about my chances?
OOS Male, all boys prep school in MA
3.3 gpa
23 ACT
plenty of great EC's, 2 solid essays, recs
national honor society

It depends on how much they want OOS students. I think that it is a 50/50 chance of being accepted. Your GPA and ACT seem a bit low for the average. How did you get into NHS? At least at my school, the minumum GPA is 3.5 unweighted.

I think you have about a 30% chance of being accepted.
With the 1000 less freshman they are taking, and the large volume accepted in November, I think you cutting it too close.

"Since decisions will be made public at UF on Feb 15 concerning admissions, it seems likely that many students accepted at FSU during round 1, but who chose to hear from UF before making their commitment to FSU will be scrambling to secure their slot at FSU prior to Feb 20."

I thought you had until May 1st to secure your spot. My daughter is waiting for a decision from her dream school which will not be until the end of March. Does she have to do something before Feb. 20th in order to still be considered for fall admission?
Thanks.

May 1st is the normal deadline but I think people on this board are concerned that with the cut-backs in admission, some of the spots could be rescinded early if you fail to commit. You are probably ok waiting until March to decide but we don't know what they will do because of the budget cuts.

I think that they do have to honor the May 1 deadline, but could easily rescind for grades, suspensions and the like. I suspect that there will be a waiting list, and they will be hesitant to get into a position of offering admission to too many. I think we will see deferrals with the Feb 20th notification, some outright rejections, and by this time or the final notification period a waitlist. They cannot rely totally on data mining this year. I do believe we will see a waitlist, or they will somehow defer again and then call off the deferrals after May 1.

While the University has published a May 1 deadline to pay the admissions deposit and orientation fee, offers may be rescinded for poor grades, a change in academic schedule, or if the yield shows that we are already getting a number of confirmed accepts via admissions deposit to ready the 5300 target. The progress towards the yield will also show how many, if any, get accepted in decision 3. A waitlist will be implimented, but if you wish to attend FSU, you are encouraged to pay the admissions deposit (www.admission.fsu.edu/fees) asap after your acceptance.

thanks to the great advice on the is board my s applied in the summer and was admitted in the first round! as an oos westchester countynear nyc hs student- our area doesnt send a lot of students to florida schools (other than Miami) so he is a bit of a trail blazer. interestingly enough after he started talking about it so positively friends of his caught nole fever! i think he has at least four friends who applied and are now waiting to hear feb 15th.

what do you guys think about my chances?
3.35/3.9 gpa
1340 sat
4 years varsity swimming
77 hrs community service
2 summer internships
and im applying for summer b
i find out this wednesday so im nervous

I think that your stats look very strong for FSU! I am sorry to hear that you got rejected by UF, but it seems that your story is sounding familiar.
To be quite frank I think UF's admissions process to be a bit random. A surprising number of students, such as yourself, were rejected (highest SAT I have seen is 1520) while students with lesser stats were accepted (lowest I have seen is 1170). This result makes one wonder at the warped logic which must be found in the admissions at UF!?
But the students who were qualified and deserving (as yourself) of admittance, will most likely find this to be a blessing in the long run! You will have even more motivation to be the best that you can be and make UF sorry that they so stupidly rejected you! (I know that would be my own inclination!)

We look forward to seeing the posts on the 20th for admissions. If I were gambling, I would think you have outstanding odds for being a Nole! Make sure you apply for housing ASAP, since your housing priority number will be with you all 4 years at FSU.

I was deferred in Nov...
Is it possible that I will hear from fsu on feb 20?
I sent in my new ACT scores and midterm grades.
HELP!
lol I REALLY want to be a nole
