It is. What else would it be? Actually learning U.S. History? =p

I agree with the previous poster. I guess it would be nice if people actually took AP classes because they were genuinely interested in the subject matter, but the truth is that the majority of people take AP's to make their apps look good and get college credit. The whole college admissions process is bogus. Under qualified applicants get into elite schools because they can play the trombone. Colleges are such hypocrites because they require us to submit all kinds of garbage that they really don't care about anyways. Colleges really don't care about community service and student organizations; they really care about grades and standardized tests. This is proved by how one gets any college degree: grades, that's it. None of the other peripheral stuff matters. Many people even stop doing things such as volunteering and/or other activities in college because they really did not like doing those things; they just did them to get into college. Frankly, all this peripheral stuff does is make students go crazy and make their lives miserable. Well, that's my rant of the day.

I have taken AP classes because I liked the subject -- like Spanish or psychology or calculus -- but subjects like APUSH I loathed.

I love US history. I suggest reading the Andrew Jackson one, he was a ****ing badass. One of my favorite presidents.

Really? He was probably my least favorite president -- from the bank issue to the Native Americans issue, he ****ed me off. =p

God knows. I read a biography about Abe Lincoln's sexuality.

Got a 4.

if i were u dude, just BS a summary of on online. i read up to page 50 of Approaching Fury and gave up. literally the night b4 AP tests (not just trying to sound really smart, this is the truth), i just raed through my teacher's copy of the barron's APUSH history flash cards that she had. i got a 4 and am very satisfied because i got credit and wilL NEVER TAKE HISTORY AGAIN after high school

Read 1776, It was on my summer assignment list but I chose Washington's biography and it was terrible. Definitly 1776.

you've got to read 1776!
that the only one ive read though

I never read any of those books when I took APUSH. I got a 720 on the subject test. I don't know my AP score yet.

Get Cracking the AP US History Exam by Princeton review. It' really helpful. REA's good to get for its practice tests. Princeton review summarizes the material in a more brief, clear fashion.

Read the books that are more exciting and/or useful to you.
