did anyone hear anything from that department?
i live in illinois and the people that received mails from nyu were from the other
departments like stern or tisch drama.
i know some international students got in already,
but no one here is talking about this department much.
I'm just really curious if anyone here in the states got anything?
thanks.

My d applied to Clive Davis and has not heard a peep-no email, phone call, letter- nada.
I know one international poster had been accepted with phone call and email but other than that all is quiet. I am assuming rejection for her. Maybe something will come today.

Got the rejection letter today. Hopefully you will have better luck Miszxstacey.

I’m so sorry to hear that. But I’m sure your D has a bright future ahead of her even if it isn’t NYU.
And thank you :)

Received “the email” + official acceptance email + purple acceptance package by the end of March on our part. It was a bummer that they didn’t include anything specific from the ReMu department or at least from Tisch. Seemed very general.

Plus, the acceptance package was dated February 25, 2010 on the UPS label. Maybe they made a mistake of writing “February” instead of “March”, but then, it seems like the department already made its decisions by the first week of March, at the latest (according to its Facebook group).

Anyway, since you also applied to the department - which, I presume, you found to be great for one reason or another - I would like to ask a question. Why should anyone choose such a young program over its counterparts at, say, USC or Berklee?

to auntjemima:
Because I think this program is simply amazing. I love the idea of having a Capstone project at the end of your senior year to test the skills you have aquired over the last 4 years. Also the fact that professionals in the industry are going to critique you is an amazing experience to encounter. The list goes on…

Do you mind if I ask you what region you are from?
And what your stats were? So far only 17 joined the FB
group for Clive 2014.

It was actually my sister who got accepted. Don’t really know her stats, but from what I’ve seen, her essays were clever and the portfolio was amazing. Oh, and she’s an international. The package arrived on March 29th, I think. I’ll let her know about the FB group.

Thanks Miszxstacey-it wasn’t top of her list and she got into USC pop music program so we are thrilled about that. I hope you have some good options in your future too!

I also got into the REMU program and I think I might not be attending after all, I also found someone at the USC fb group that had been accepted to REMU as well and is thinking of going to USC instead as well…

I got notified by the travel plans email some weeks ago, then the official email and then the package arrived half a week ago (but as they say it’s pretty general nyu stuff)

Poncem-hope you’ll met my D at USC-she is going to the April 15th explore. Fight on!

I won’t be going to USC explore because I live very far away in Peru, but I’m sure I’ll meet her when classes start!

That will be awesome- congratulations on your acceptances. The USC programs and Thornton are the best!

yea…still haven’t heard anything from them.
hopefully something will come tomorrow.

Did you ever hear from REMU? I agree that this is the best program of its kind!! BTW with the exception of the international students, REMU’s attendance rate is 100% of their acceptances.

I don’t know about the attendance rate you state, surely most people go when they’re accepted, but just this year I know of 3 ppl choosing not to go and I’m the only international student, and that makes me think this has happened in previous years =/ since there are always students that are waitlisted who then make it in.

Still it is a great program!!! I would really recommend it to anyone, however I really can’t say if it’s the best since I personally haven’t had the chance to experience either that program or another program as well to compare
From what I know USC’s music industry program along with the Pop Music program is somewhat like the REMU program at NYU (depending on what to do want to focus yourself in) and the acceptance rate is equally harsh in both schools… around 10%.

Good luck to everyone who wants to go there! Be sure to spend a lot of time and effort in your application!

Could anyone post any ballpark academic stats, and also what the portfolios of the accepted were like?

I’m in the top 20% of my class…does that help my chances or is it average for applicants of ReMu?
