the incoming freshmen have already filled out their housing forms. i’m not sure when the last deadline is for housing but i know that some of my friends have already turned in some of their forms… if not all.

yeah for reals. are the people waiting on an appeal going to have to live in a tent if they get in?

i got onto the “waiting list”.

wait r u guys incoming college freshmen? and did u get this “waiting list” via snail mail or email? b/c i didn’t get anything :(

the message came via email and its also in your uci account. if you sign in, it should say you have 1 message.

yeah i checked my online acct it just says pending still. it’s probably b/c i’m a transfer and not a freshman and i’m screwed lol

no msgs in uci acct and none in the gmail acct i listed when i applied xp

they just updated it last night for mine, R-E-J-E-C-T-E-D. lame :(

i’m sorry. im sure that you’ll find a better alternative, goodluck in the future.

I appealed to UCI & FINALLY got my acceptance today :\ My deadline to submit my SIR is 7/9

Hey i appealed to UCI and got in today as well, but i have already made payments to another UC. Will i get my money back if i go UCI and will my test scores like the UC Writing exam and stuff go to UCI as well?

@ sachiko: congrats!! wht was ur alternative?

@ deon: which uc was it? What stuff did u pay for? the uc writing exam is universal so dont worry about that. Also i got back 200 from housing to another uc so it really depends on ur contract deadline

It was UCR and i already paid for the SIR, Housing, and Orientation Fee =/ Which UC gave you your $200 back?

ucm. i didnt get the sir back but i got the housing back. i payed 300 for housing so i lost 200 in the process which sucks. i registered for a orientation date but didnt pay yet so i was able to cancel it. i think you can probably get back 100-150 right now? but you should read the cancelation policy for the housing. def wont get the sir back though.

My alternative was actually my back-up, UCSB. I already sent in my SIR and stuff, and my orientation was actually July 6-7. I had just gotten used to the idea of going to SB too :\ I hope UCI has enough room for housing… don’t want to get stuck in a triple.

Congrats to the others who got in as well Sucks that UCI replied to the appeals so late…

yeah i just got my appeal response yesterday at 4pm and i got in! i’m in the same boat as you too sachiko because i got used to the idea of going to CSULB and i convinced myself that csulb is a dope school. Now, I have no idea if I want to go to UCI or CSULB but i have until the 9th to submit my SIR to Irvine if i decide to go there. I want to get into business, specifically finance or accounting, and i don’t know which school has a better business program. And, I don’t know which school is more social and fun, but I hear UCI is boring and in a boring area. I’m from San Diego and I will be dorming at whichever school i choose. Any insights?

@simplebutsick
it took me awhile to get used to the idea of going to UCSB just because many of my family and friends disapproved me of going there since it’s a “party school.” I learned to love UCSB after orientation and stuff, & i love how organized their post-acceptance process was compared to UCI’s. (they also didn’t take forever to respond)

I made my decision to go to UCI because it’s much closer to home (and yet not too far), so it’s more convenient for me. However, I’m still kind of disappointed that I’m not going to SB.

My friends who go to UCI say that yes, it is kind of “boring” and that it almost seems like a commuter school since most of them go home every weekend. That doesn’t mean it’s not social or fun There are plenty of places around UCI that you can go to (with a means of transportation) to have fun. As for which school has a better business program, I can’t help you there ><

@ simple: i also live in SD… and i have to say its kinda the same. irvine looks ALOT better depending on where u live in sd. it feels like china town too cus wen i went to the malls all i saw were asian people haha.

is anyone still waiting on their status? or has everyone already found of it they got rejected or accepted? mayb they forgot to change my status lol

To all the people that appealed and got accepted: If it’s not too personal, what exactly did you say in your appeal that made them want to accept you the second time? I’m just curious because I thought the odds of having an appeal accepted are very slim to none but it seems like quite a few people had their appeal accepted. I honestly didn’t think my appeal was going to get me anywhere, but it’s a good thing I did it. For me, I talked about my community service hours because I didn’t list the hours I did on my first application. I also mentioned how I got a D in AP Calculus for the first semester (senioritis) of my senior year and how I’m a determined person and was able to strive second semester and get an A in AP Calculus. I know, pretty cheesy, but I guess it worked. On top of that I had decent grades with a 3.9 GPA and a 1680 SAT.
So what did you guys say in your appeal?
