My daughter applied and we are supposed to know the 1st 2 wks of December. Climbing the walls waiting to hear…
I did! I am definitely understanding the “climbing of the walls” feelings. Are you a Virgina resident or OOS?
OOS in SC so not a great chance. How about you? My daughter is a history major and the school is so perfect for her. She has no real back ups & will be devastated if she doesn’t get in. Trying to get her interested in other schools, sooo stressful!!
I applied ED, from NJ. I can’t wait to hear back; it’s all I think about! I really hope we will hear back this Friday because I don’t think I can take the anxiety anymore! WM is my dream school.
Same for my daughter, she went to the NIAHD program there for 3 wks last summer & fell in love! I’m obsessively checking the past dates they released ED results on & it was a Fri at 5:00 last yr and a Sat at 6:30 the yr before, on 12/4 & 5 so they seem to like weekends after hours. Probably to avoid emotional calls to the admissions office, lol. If they continue that, we might hear this Fri or Sat, but the dates are earlier this year. So worried!
Last year they started committee 2 days later, so hopefully they are a little bit ahead of schedule. Hoping to celebrate this weekend! [-O<
Me, too! Do you read their Admit It Blog? They update the process every week. Last post said they were on schedule & would be sending emails some time during the 1st 2 wks of Dec. Hoping its sooner rather than later!!
Yes, I read everything they post! I did see that, and I bet that they will release another post by Wednesday or Thursday if they are expecting to release decisions this weekend. Last year they even gave the date ahead of time.
I saw that, fingers crossed!!!
For me im OOS from PA. Visited it in 7th grade and has fallen in love. It’s so sad how hard it is for OOS people and especially Woman. The emails the send out are titles specifically for admit defer or deny.
How is your daughter handling the stress? I know personally, I’m convincing myself I won’t get in.
I read about the subject line saying either “Good News” or “About your application”, however, I read that for RD, do they do it for ED, too? I think it’s terrible as we want to be together when she gets the news & this way she will know wherever she is, at a friends or in class, and could be quite upsetting! She said she’s leaving her phone at home on school days so she doesn’t find out at school.
She is trying not to think about it, not me, I obsess over it, but she has a bad cold & is home sick so not feeling well is taking her mind off it I guess. I think she has a shot but not a fantastic one, so I am trying to prepare for bad news. I am sort of excited too, but not letting myself, I am so worried!
I am also a mom on pins and needles about this! My daughter has a much better attitude then me, thank goodness. I know she will be devastated if she doesn’t get in though. Then she is going to have to turn it around and get a bunch of applications ready. I agree, they seem to like the weekend to release results and it makes sense. I really hope it is Friday.
Hi Janiebug, I’m on pins and needles too, she has no other choices really and will be a sad Christmas and a busy one if she doesn’t get in, trying to sort it now as to where she’ll apply. I so hope it’s this weekend too, as history seems to indicate they like weekends!
my suggestion as a student is to ask your child honestly. Something that has really helped me is I have started to apply to schools even bore the decisions come in. This way if I don’t get in, which is likely cause of OOS is so hard to get into to I will have plan B, C, D, and F. I can suggest a few other schools that your children may like!
Thank you, I wanted to do this but she is insisting be wait till we hear. She will try and use her same essays if possible. It’s ok with me as we’ll hear soon & its $ applying to each school. She knows of 2 but hard to get in so no sure thing. She wants a school that’s great for a history major, small to medium size, VA area or close, that she would be able to transfer next year from, so a pretty decent school. I think she’s superstitious about applying before we hear…
I HAVE NEWS: Just saw a response this morning on the W&M latest Admit It Blog, they told someone we would hear the middle of next week! Guess they need more time than the weekend, the waiting is killing me but at least we can relax & not check email constantly over the w/e, sigh…
I understand that! In the VA area, there is Richmond which is very similar and academically rigorous and a great community. They also have a lot of programs for history majors and research available for history majors. As an Anthropology hopeful on the pre-med track history and research are really imports for me. At Richmond they give you 4,000 during your time to conduct any research or travel you want. Another school would be Wake forest, Elon, Davidson in NC and Whitman in WA.
Thanks for the great information and my daughter loves the Univ of Richmond, but it seems to be much harder to get into than W&M so if she doesn’t get accepted there, she probably won’t at Univ of Richmond. We are looking at Elon & Davidson, but she probably can’t get into WF. She doesn’t really want to be that close to home, lol, but I wish she’d consider more seriously those NC schools. She’d rather be closer to DC, so we’re looking at a few up there but again, she doesn’t want to discuss until she hears from W&M, which I guess now is mid week next wk. This limbo is killing me!
How do you know is mid week next week? And remember although Richmond is a tad harder the reason why its so hard for WM is because we are OOS. It shouldn’t stop her from trying.
