@Thecollegegal Thanks for the info. Last year they released 2 days earlier they said, and 2 days after the last “Overheard in Committee” post. There’s a good chance it will still be next week, but I have a feeling we will hear back sooner. They have never released decisions on a weekend before…
Thanks @Thecollegegal, but I am a little confused, are you in VA? Are you saying the W&M admin told your counselor to schedule the call this week so that means it would be too late that week? Why does your school counselor speak w/ W&M admissions?
@thatginger56, do you mean they have never released emails during the week before? As they have released on the weekend the past few years.
Sorry, that was a typo! I meant a weekday, since the last few years they have only released on weekends.
Whew, no problem, thought I had missed something! I am so nervous! I’m the mom, my daughter doesn’t want to talk about it but I’m the opposite, I need to vent and discuss, ugh!
i really thought it would be this weekend too- based posts from the last two years - I feel like I’m analyzing a sport game or something
Tell me about it, I feel the same, I am obsessively analyzing everything I can find!
It makes me feel better that I have company! I still think it’s may be this weekend for the reasons you said earlier about less angry phone calls, also it gives kids a chance to digest bad news.
Misery loves company, lol! I do think it might be this w/e, if you read through the posts people have made some good points. Sunday makes sense, seems it will be in the evening. This is soooo rough!
@cloudysmom I am a PA resident. I go to a very small school where our counselors for all student who apply ED will make a personal phone call to our regional reps just to add anything or make anything clearer. My regional rep told her that the call needs to take place before Friday. i don’t know if that is for more time or because that’s when the final decisions are.
If your child goes to a smaller school and you know their college guidance counselor well most of the time if you talk to them they can schedule something called a counselor call. I didn’t know about this either until today. Some may have already done it. They usually don’t tell students----says my college counselor
Ok, I see. No, she goes to a HUGE school, nearly 4,000 kids, which also makes it near impossible to be well ranked, sigh. They do a good job though of assigning to counsellors so she actually has gotten to know hers over the year, the school has a lot of counsellors and many one on one meetings each semester. I know the counselor had to write a letter. It’s nice that your school offers that! I’m pretty sure hers does not. I have no idea how I can wait till next week!
Does anyone follow W&M Admissions on Twitter? I just read they are updating there, too and wondered if they said anything different?
@cloudysmom The twitter is for sure filled with cool information. They are still saying middle of next week. But rest assured, I always imagined the people reading our essays to be animal cracker and Kit-Kat type people; the photos on their twitter proved that right.(We know real people are reading our applications lol). But, I too feel so anxious right now. I haven’t been able to think straight all this week knowing a decision from the Tribe Lands is on the horizon. I’m instate and if I don’t get into W&M I don’t know what i’m going to do-- the past 4 years of high school have all been for this moment. Just gotta keep our fingers crossed and hope that what’s meant to be will work out.
Thanks! I looked them up on Twitter, they do put out more info there, so nerve wracking! That’s great if you’re in state, that will really help! My daughter is OOS, from SC, so the odds are against her. This is the only school she wants as well, no other choices and she will be crushed if she doesn’t get in!
Same being from PA its an extremely popular school to apply too=more competition
.
Ugh, I am losing my mind! There are only a couple hundred OOS spots open. I saw on Twitter that they’ve been signing athletes all week, there goes some of the spots…my daughter has some good strengths going for her but her scores could be higher so very worried.
@cloudysmom They just responded to some posts on Admit It. Based on that I am still really thinking the wait will be over this weekend. I keep telling myself it will be okay either way but am scared too. My daughter started working on her Wake Forest app last night But I hope she never has to send it.
I just saw that too and was about to post here! Might be this weekend after all but he told that woman maybe the 5th. I’m thinking the 5th at the latest, OMG! So nervous!
I think it will definitely be this weekend, possibly even tomorrow. It seems highly unlikely to me that they would post it on Monday, especially since they said in the comments to keep checking for a “Decisions, Decisions” blog post very soon. I guess I will just have to obsessively check my email this weekend!
